Pierced Hole In Firewall

I forgot to ask the salesman where the pierced hole in the firewall is. Can someone describe where it is or post a pic? There's a small 1 (w/ a plug) up near the top on the driver's side above the Hydroboost unit. Is that the 1 they mention in the option description? I want to run some wiring thru w/o drilling.

It was either hit or miss on the "pre-drilled 42?mm hole" that is

supposed to be included/done at the factory in the vyu plow prep. pkg.

One of my gmt-800s had one, the other did not. My 07 gmt-900 also didn't have one. The snowplow dealer just drilled one when they did my installation.

All had the VYU option.

Do you need to know where it is? Will have to look.

Yes if you could that would be great.

Today I called the local GM upfitter (Kerr Industries) that is a Meyer's dealer. Chap there said the same thing about the hole being drilled is hit or miss. WTF is up w/ that? Can't the guys on the line read a monitor for the RPO codes?

Sounds like a definite assembly plant issue  .

I also would be interested to know where this pre-drilled hole might be. I will have to run the VIN number to see if my truck has that RPO code. I am looking to get a wire into the cab for my headlights, with the high six mod. So if you check on your truck for where this would be located, thanks for letting us know ahead of time!

Sorry looked here to late tonite to see if you wanted that hole info.

Will look and post tomorrow where mine is....................

Note that all 2500 pickups were/are built in only one plant unlike the 1500s. So somebody on the hole drillin' section of the line must of been sleepin' or goofin' off that day!

That's what I was thinking. Obviously someone isn't catching the missing holes & nobody is following up on it. WTH is the quality dep't doing in Flint?

I know I've been around where a cab was built & a hole was missing & it was in some oddball location. The "white shirts" would have a fit as to how are we going to fix it? It would get done, but not an easy job.

I believe I have my wires running through near where the steering componet runs through firewall. I remember there was a rubber gromet that I had to finese a little with a flat head screw driver, in order to run wires through. Yea Ford never had something as easy as GM except a tiny, crammed area through steering componet that wires needed to be snaked through. Not sure about now with them, but I hated running wires on Ford trucks.

IM going through this now I found what appears to be the 42mm plug but is has a wire going thru it already.

Not a big wire, I read the up-fitters manual for the 2011 and its right in the spot it suppose to be. Its a few inches to the right of the main wire harness hole when looking up under the dash, but its hidden slightly by a big terminal block. I don't know what the wire is going through there

Any extra goodies on your truck, like alarm, remote starter, lights, ect?

Thanks topdj. I'll keep that in mind when the weather improves.

BTW, nice looking truck :)

I'm tempted to buy another grommet and drill as the location of that one is kinda pain since its to the left of the brake pedal and behind the large terminal block
