Thinking About Buying A Quadrasteer 04 Silverado 2500,

Hey guys, new here. I am thinking about jumping on this deal. I found a 2004 silverado 2500 with quadrasteer and 100k miles. It has leather, bose, ect. Does that mean it is a LT? Do the quadrasteers come in the HD version? It has a matching truck cap..need 2 new tires and for the windshield to be replaced. Thats about it. What are the pros and cons of the truck and the quadrasteer? I could get this truck for 9,500. How much is it worth?

Thanks guys!

No,Just because it has leather does not mean its an LT,If it has heated leather with driver memory its an LT,If it does not have heated leather and memory its an LS.

If its a crew-cab its either a 1500HD or 2500,If its an extended-cab its 1500 "non" HD.

If you post me the VIN I can run it and tell you exactly what it is.

It DOES have heated leather, and a 6 disc cd changer. And its a crew cab. So that means it is a 2500 LT. Whats the difference between HD and non HD

Thanks

And is that a very good deal I am getting? Or just ok? whats it worth?

Thanks

Also, were some of these offered in Z71 package? How do I tell by looking at it if it is Z71

No,No Quadrasteer truck ever had the Z71 suspension pkg.,All Quadrasteer trucks have the ZX3 suspension pkg.,ZX3 is a manually selectable ride control system,If you look on the I/P to the right of the HVAC controls you will see a cluster of buttons/switches,one is for the Quadrasteer system, one is for the passenger air-bag cut-off,and one is for the ZX3 suspension,If you press the button in to activate it,it firms up the ride for towing/hauling.

All Quadrsteer trucks also had roof marker lamps, center I.D. lamps under the tailgate,I.D. lamps on the rear bedsides, higher amp alternator, and the G86 limited-slip rear differential.

Go to www.nada.com and look up the value. It will be a lot more accurate than a bunch of people telling you their idea of a good price.

i was just wondering because I didn't know if these were a hot item, and people would pay full value or I couldn't get the full value out of it.

I didn't mean that to be rude. Just everyone will give you what they think, but it's arbitrary because if they don't like that truck the price is way to high, if they love it, it's a steal.

Quadrasteers rock! I had an 04 crew cab with the SS front end on it. I wanted another one, but they stopped making them. The only thing I'd caution you about is that they don't make parts for them anymore. If the any of the sensors or controllers go out on you , you're S.O.L.

Actually I just checked,The sensors, motor, and module are all still available,Although they are not cheap!

I should also add,If its a 1500HD/2500LD it will have the LQ4 6-liter and 4L80E trans.,where a 1500 will have the LM7 5.3 and 4L60E trans. (Unless its a GMC Denali,in which case it will have the LQ9 6-liter and 4L65E trans.)

I also believe the 1500HD/2500LD have 4.10 gears and the 1500's had 3.73's,although either gear may have been available in either truck, someone may have to verify that for me.

The 1500HD/2500LD's also have a higher GVWR and 8-lug wheels...off the top of my head I can't remember the GVWR difference between the 1500 and 1500HD/2500LD,Most 1500 ext.cabs had a GVWR of 6,400 lbs.,and most 1500HD/2500LD's had a GVWR of 8,600 lbs. (2500HD's are 9,200 lbs.) I'd have to do some information digging on that though, unless someone on here can verify that also.

My info was from reading threads at DenaliTrucks.com. According to QS owners, they can't get hold of any new parts and are scouring the wrecking yards and eBay to find controllers and other sensors.

Thats probably because they don't want to pay the prices for new parts! But they are available new from GM.

In previous posts by MS3Dale you will see the GVWR differences between a 2500 LD (1500 HD) and a 2500 HD wich was not available with Quadrasteer. He is also right about replacement parts. These guys don't want to pay full price. It's a law, you have to have at least 10 years of replacement parts on hand to produce a model. I imagine GM forcasts for longer supplies anyway, being as big as they are.

No QS in an HD truck. The QS rear axle is a hybrid Dana 60 design with a special limited slip differential and

all of the provisions for the QS system. All parts are still available and as long as the rear steering gear doesn't start taking in water through the motor or tie rod bellows, they last a good long time without issue.
