Seafoam -whats The Deal?

I ran a can through both of my trucks by adding it to my fuel tank a few years ago. Didn't notice anything, but that doesn't mean it didn't clean anything up. I have heard good things though.

it all depends. If you have an older truck with higher mileage it may help. i run it through my old suburban and can make a smoke show or used to be able to. I put a can through my friends 01 with 90K on it and cleared up a O2 sensor code and changed his mileage by about 1mpg. Mostly i see improvement through older engines that have carbon deposits built up. Search for seafoam and you will find alot more than you will probably care to read.

Yea I have about 60,000 on my truck right now. Probably not too much to clean out of my engine any way. The improvement in gas mileage has definitely got me a little more interested though.

You might be surprised. You ought to take a look at your TB sometime.

Seafoam serves its purpose. It's a good cleaner. But it's not magic in a can

Off topic I guess but I know it does a great job with carbs on small gas engines, especially these newer B&S 'throwaway' carbs. I keep my lawn mower/generator/etc gas dosed with it and my plugs come out cleaner than they used to. Seems like the oil is cleaner too but maybe that is simply wishful thinking.

Seafoam is good stuff. I use it in everything I own with a motor. It cleans injectors, carbs., and takes care of water in the fuel. IMO it's worth giving it a try if you never used it before.

Many people just pour it in the tank and say the hell with it. And that's not how seaform works, for the most part. Seaform is meant to be sucked into intake via a vacuum line. And when it's used that way, it can really make a smoke show full of harsh fumes. You'd be surprised what even a low mileage vehicle will have in the intake already.

kind of a n old thread but Im gonna post anyway.

I used it in my 01 S10 with 120K on it. It helped with idle and throttle response. I didnt notice any MPG gain because I was constantly adding weight and other mods. But, It did seem to run smoother and have a little more pep though.

I would, however, be afraid to use it on super high mileage engines that have not been getting regular treatments. Neglected engines have been known to start leaking and burning oil after a Seafoam treatment, because of all of the carbon that was plugging holes everwhere being removed. But, thats usually on neglected engines. Like txab said, its not magic in a can. I wouldnt hesitate to use it on my truck, and I probably will when I do the 100K tune up.

I have been using seafoam on all my cars/trucks for years and IMO the stuff works amazing. My Sierra had a sticking TB and rough idle. The seafoam got rid of that and gave me better fuel milage for a few months. Seeing this thread makes me want to seafoam my truck again lol

Here's a vid after seafoaming my truck. You can see all the gunk and crap that's burned off coming out of the exhaust
