Ehaust Manifold Bolts

Hi, I just learned that GM has had a problem with the exhaust manifold bolts breaking off on Vortec V8's. After viewing and looking at images of the problem, I looked at mine and they looked fine. It is a California 4.8L with 86,000 miles and babied since new. Now, I did notice that the images posted are from vehicles located in parts of the country where there is snow, heat, road salts, ect. and there was quite a bit of rust and corrosion on the bolts and manifolds. Does anyone here think that could be the cause instead of defective parts? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

I had the heads pop off my exhaust manifold on a 1999 K2500 4x4 with the 6.0.It was out of warranty so I just fixed it my self.

Were you able to repair w/o removing the heads?

If you're lucky, it'll break in a way that when you pull the manifold off, enough of the bolt will be sticking out of the head to grab with a pair of vice grips (that's what happened on my old 4.8).

GM generally doesn't have a problem with this. A few people might, but if it were actually an issue, this forum would be inundated with complaints about it.
