Shifting Question

Hey everyone- Hope all is well with you all.

I was out this past week doing some deer hunting. In the process, I did some driving through a field that was disced, so it was quite rough on the truck. Anyways, since then, it seems that my 1 to 2 shift isn't as firm as it was. It almost seems like it slips going in to second. Is this anything I should be worried about? Or what do you guys think? I was thinking about unhooking the battery just to reset everything.

On a separate note, I finally drove the truck in some snow and ice. Wow, this thing handles amazing. Even with the crappy tires that I have on it, I couldn't believe it!

As long as it doesn't slip any at more than half throttle, and especially at WOT it'll be fine. Unhooking the battery like you mentioned should make it shift different for a while, how long that would be is anybody's guess. The transmission slips a little into each gear at low throttle to try and provide the smoothest shift possible.

P.S.- be careful in that ice, you make think it handles good until you slip up and give it too much gas and spin her into a ditch.

Wide open it is fine, I only notice it at less than half throttle. It is just weird because when I first got the truck it was also so rough shifting into second at anything less than half. Now it doesn't.. I'm not gonna worry until it gets a lot worse, if it does at all.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely be careful on the ice. That auto 4wd works pretty darn cool too!

I have a 2006 GMC Z71 and it does the same 1-2 shift under light acceleration also. Not all the time though.

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I'm not going to worry too much about it then. I figured I would ask. I'm getting close to 50,000. Once I hit that, I'll probably do a tranny fluid and filter change just to be safe.
