Dashboard Replacement

I have an 08 sierra and the dash piece in front of the steering wheel has cracked. Not sure why. Truck is only 2 years old so this seems weird to have the dash cracked. I need to replace it and want to know where I can buy o a new one.

the first time i heard of this happening to our trucks was the other day....... the dealership tech said its not really my interior (SLE with the vertical air vents) he said it was the fully loaded with the horizontal air vents. Which one do you have? sucks to hear that tho

Try the dealer for warranty work.

Bumper to bumper is 3 yrs/36000 miles.

If u have more than 36k miles, disregard this reply.

Our 07 Tahoe has a small crack on both ends of the dash. They just popped up.

I just found a 5" crack in mine that just popped this weekend, I think I may be SOL cause my truck is a late 07

The best way to avoid dash cracking is to consistently use a refective sun screen when you park your vehicle, especially in hot climates. However, it is unusual to see dash cracks so early.

Off topic alittle has anyone tried one of those dash mats/ dash covers ? They are supposedly the cure all to any dash issues at a reasonable price.

I called the Chevy dealer, my warranty is out. And they said it was a fairly common issue. Even some of the new trucks from the factory have shown up with cracks.

 

I didnt have time to read the 33page thread posted above, but if you google "ltz dash crack", mine looks identical to the pics posted there.

 

Pretty piss poor.

If you read that thread and talk to gm customer service, they are helping people out with the problem even if they are out of warranty....its kinda all over the map tho, some people have had them done for free, some payed 50% and the rest payed a "deductable" of $50-200

I don't have one of those reflective window shades but I usually try to spray some sort of cleaner/protectant on my dash once a week. Not sure if it really helps but I figured what the heck.
