2007 Silverado 5.3 Fuel Filter

Alright, truck hits 50000 in the next four months with the way I am driving now. The filter will have 50,000 miles on it and I usually have changed them every 20- 30,000 miles. Billion dollar question, Where is it?

 

 

 

 

Hey also, I would like to meet the guy who decided to mount the oil filter in the new position on the pan with the mini filter and introduce him to my size 11. That had to be the hardest filter I have ever removed. I use a pair of filter pliers, no strap wrenches and it was so tight I was crushing the filter without turning it.

Im not a mech. but my 08 gmc 5.3 filter i believe is in the tank???

I'm not a mech. either, but on my 06 GMC 5.3 it's located inside the tank also. I was told theres no need to change the filter unless the pump goes bad .

No fuel filters anymore on these trucks, guys. Engineering put a better strainer on the in-tank fuel pump and took the filters off the frame rail. People were never changing them and then they would plug up and take out the pumps. No need to worry about that now.

Just because you can't service it, doesn't mean it doesn't need to be changed

That must mean the fuel we get from the pump is uber clean and there is not dirt. That also means that the fuel injectors must now have openings that are larger than the jets in the QJET on my 79 z28. Sweet - boost here I come, the fuel will now pour like a firehose instead of the EPA's LOW FLOW SHOWER HEAD.

 

 

 

Hey, Since the air we breathe is getting cleaner does that mean soon there will be no need for air filters?

The reason the fuel filter is in the tank is that 2004 GM trucks and later vehicles have a returnless fuel system to reduce fuel vapors along with cooler fuel and a bit more horsepower. The EPA has required the system and many MFR's have been using it for quite some time. My 2000 Jeep has 116000 miles with the original pump and filter.
