New Problem Since Hitting Deer

Hello!

You might have read my post HERE about me hitting a deer.

Anyways, last night I went to go start the truck to go to work, and it would not start. The message "Service battery charging system" shows up on the DIC. It doesn't turn over even a little bit, but the doors locks keep clicking when I try to start it. The voltmeter in the truck shows just above 9volts with the accessories on. I used my multimeter on the battery and it stands at 11.56volts.

Any idea what could have happened? It worked fine for 3 days after the accident, and now she wont start.

haha! yeah, im charging the battery right now. What could have caused that battery to kill itself though any ideas? I'll go re-check the connections...

Insurace will cover all damage to repair it anyways, just trying to get her going so I don't need to get a rental vehicle and drive a FWD in winter lol.

The cold weather tends to drain batteries. Im almost certain that the deer had nothing to do with this issue.

Yeah, clean the battery terminals and check the ground strap for security. Then verify the alternator is charging.

I checked connections and all were secure, I then boosted the battery and voila the truck started!

The multimeter showed the battery was charging at 14.5 volts while at idle, so that seems fine.

Maybe the battery is shot, because it has not been colder then -10 outside which shouldn't kill my battery. What a coincidence though!
