Does Your Dealer Match Gmpartsdirect?

I just called 2 local dealers and one said no they would not and the other one was a rude lady that acted like I offended her because I asked her to match them. What rude ruthless person.

 

Anyway, I want to order some wheel well liners and bed rail caps but I am not paying $40 for shipping from GMPD.

Well I would suspect that is where the price difference between GMPARTSDIRECT and your dealer comes from.

 

I have some wheel well liners, I will sell them to you for $10.00 + Shipping and Handling... Oh yea I have a great deal on shipping and handling too. It is just $100.00 in the continental US

I will generally come pretty close to matching prices of on-line dealers,Most of the time if I can't match the same price I explain to them that there is no shipping charge because they are coming to pick up the parts instead of me shipping them.

My dealer last time asked if I did some price research and asked how much I found my radio for. He made it seem he would try to come close until I told him how cheap I got it. Generally it's easier to ask people to lower the price/price match in person rather then over the phone.

i have tried 3 different dealers on lunch last week for wheel liners they all looked at me like i was stupid. one guy told me he would take some off of a truck in the lot and give them to me for the online price

Nope, Last example was a fuel pressure regulator for my 2000. Gmpartsonline.com had it for like $50 (I needed it asap), took the printout with me and they would not bugde, basically told me that was a fabricated price. I had to pay like $85.

Yeah I called another dealer and he was laughing about GMPD. Said he didn't understand how the hell they sell everything below cost. He said if I wanted it locally he would match their shipped price and knock a few bucks off.

 

Sounded good to me.

Matching their shipped price IS matching their price as far as I'm concerned. The only difference is you get to pick them up today and you will have to pay the tax.

 

Remember. Businesses don't CHARGE tax, the only COLLECT it.

They sell cheap but hit you in the ass on shipping, almost works out the same as getting from your dealer. Ill bet that if you went to there location in person you couldnt get the online price out the door for that part without shipping.

If you were planning on picking the parts up at GMPD, or having the dealer deliver the parts, then you can properly compare prices. Ever notice on ebay how some people will sell something for cheap, but charge lots for shipping, and others charge more for the part but less for shipping? Ask the dealer to match the TOTAL price, assuming you want to pay that much in the first place.

I haven't bought anything yet that I tried to get the dealer to price match, but it is times like this when having a cell phone w/ internet is handy.
