Well a spark plug list for $9.76,and a plug wire list for $24.38,so I don't know where they got $123.90 for parts.

sounds crazy...hell thats over 10% tax....something doesn't sound quite right...here in IL you can only charge tax on parts and not labor, I don't know about other states....

if this deal is as true as you state it is....you need to gather up your receipts from a couple of weeks ago, document all dealings, and state your case to GM....lots of dealers have nice incentives coming their way at years end if they were rated well by customers....I'm sure this dealer wouldn't want a less than "Completely Satisifed" rating on their CSI scores at the year end.

The sale's tax is high as i live in Canada....Here is a copy of the Bill . I did make a stink at the dealership for this .. But to them its just another person pissed off for repair's done .. I have 40km left on the power train But told them at the stealership they would never see my truck here again . As for buying another truck that would not happen there also. And to take my name off there waiting list for my diesel along with my father's Name as i would be talking to him later today

Dont get me wrong i love my truck . and would prolly pay whatever it takes to have my baby run right .. But i hate being taken in by there crap and over price

I call bullshit on the repairs to your truck........... (not how much it cost but what the tech did to allegedly repair it).

I hate to say it but $100 says that wasn't your problem.

This is one reason I stay away from stealerships.

well with that attitude...... Sick of people calling dealerships stealerships. They charge more because of the overhead. Do you know what GM Service tools cost???? I have had good service from my Dealership. It costs more but at least I know they have every resource to diagnose and fix the truck properly vs. some parts changers at independent shops with their snap-on scanners

now, the OP is not getting the benefit of the higher cost because the tech probably doesn't know how to diagnose. He needs to push the issue and if all fails find another dealer.

I don't believe that there is any purpose in automatically blaming or berating all dealerships ... they are just another service business ... if you don't like the service you get, then go somewhere else.

as I see it you are being charged for about 2.5 to 3 hrs diagnostic and parts installation time plus the parts with a big markup (yes, for all of you parts cost a LOT MORE in Canada...) plus misc service charge plus taxes

it is high for what you got ... but the worst thing would be if the truck still ran like crap after all this ....

my independent mechanic will do a lot of diagnostic work before charging ... but when he does charge for his work always seems expensive and it always fixes the problem ....

it sounds like you need to figure why there is so much carbon buildup in that engine, and to get the current accumulated crap out of there .... you have an '07 5.3 AFM engine, so are you consuming a lot of oil between oil changes...???? ... what condition are your rings and lifters in...?

something dosen't add up but it by no means qualifes for a "stealership" comment..don't you have a warranty?

Call the number in the back of thea owners manual. Tell the people in india that work for gm that the dealet is ripping you off. Crap will hit the fan. Report to better business bureau.

A plug wire set at my dealer is about $85 and about $9-10 each plug. It adds up. Plus diagnostic time and the actual repair labor. The misc. charge is there to cover shop rags, uniforms, safety glasses, free-stock hardware, etc. Now that's U.S. $$'s. I'm sure up North it's a lot higher.

    • My brother has an Escalade. The warranty has expired so he told his wife to go to the Valvoline quick lube he uses some times. They told her if her car was a 2020 and newer 6.2 engine they wouldn’t touch it. Hers is a 2019, so they did the oil change.
    • The oil filter has NOTHING To do with oil leak. GM sources parts from 1,000's of vendors and as with anything mass produced, flaws are unavoidable.    Putting a larger oil filter will do nothing but satisfy emotions. The OEM filter is designed for the engine and perfectly capable of handling the demands on the engine. Oversize oil filter could result in reduced flow and overall lower oil pressure.
    • You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.
    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
