Bfg At Ko Noise

I'm looking to replace my Revos and love the look of the BFGs but am concerned about noise - I haven't seen many direct comparisons with other tires. My Revos (in stock 265/75R16) are about the same on the highway as the factory Firestone Wilderness ATs. How will the BFGs (same size) compare? I need a tire for 99% road use that's good in the snow and am looking for a change from the Revos. I love the agressive look of the BFGs and don't mind a MPG penalty, but I don't want a loud tire. Any opinions are welcome.

The BFGs are not very loud at all. I don't know in comparison to your current tires if they are louder or not. They get a little louder as they wear, but it never was anything that bothered me. Certainly not the huge roar you get out of mud tires.

Thanks - so you'd say they compare to any other "typical" A/T tire?

I went with the Michelin LTX AT/2's over my all time fave BFG All-Terrains this last time around. Two reasons....

1) Whenever we have tire issues that can't seem to be straightened out, Michelin's get installed and the problem is solved.

2) They were actually cheaper than the KO's and I couldn't get a KO in a P rating for my tire size. I have no use for

LT tires as I don't haul/tow much weight on a regular basis and prefer the ride of the P rated tires.

Not looking back. Sorry BFG.

Noise wise, the KO's will be comperable to most any AT tire.

This is my only other concern aside from noise. My Revos are P rated and the OE tires were P rated and I feel like they were both stiff enough. On an old Jimmy I once had, I went from P to LT tires because I felt it was just too squishy in the corners and the LTs actually improved the handling a lot. Since I don't feel like the P-metric sidewalls are too soft, I worry somewhat that the LTs will make the ride too harsh unnecessarily (I don't tow or haul regularly, either).

I'm glad (and somewhat surprised) to hear how quiet the KOs are given their aggressive looks. I guess it's no wonder they're so popular!

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on the KOs, but they no longer even make them in 265/75R16 with Load Range D, let alone C. I'm fairly concerned that the Load Range E tires are going to be like driving on a set of granite boulders. Does anyone have these tires in this size in Load Range E? Any comments on how they ride?

I love the looks of these tires and am dying to try them, but am having a hard time deciding (the price doesn't help me pull the trigger, either...).

Thanks for the reply. What about the ride from the Load Range E tires? Was it like riding on slabs of granite even down around 40 psi, or not too bad?

I was looking at the Cooper Zeon LTZs also, but they also only come in Load Range E (at least in my size)!

i had mine at 38lbs and it rode very rough over bumps....sometimes making the rear end dance i bit

the coopers in my size are still p rated and they are a lot cheaper than bfgs so im gonna give them a shot

That's what I was afraid of. I'm not sure I want to turn my truck into a rough rider just for good looking tires. I guess I'll keep looking for something that's P rated or at least just 6-ply...

Good luck with the Coopers - I've heard good things.

The coopers are awesome... but.... So are the BFG's. I've had MANY sets without issue. I went with the coopers this time for something different and actually will do them again.

Only thing I will add is they can get loud if you don't rotate them. I've had many sets get above 50,000 miles when rotated. If you don't rotate them regular, they will make some noise on the road, but still not bad.

Did you have the same issues as Snarkee with harsh ride quality on the KOs, or were you running a size with LR C or D?

No... I didn't have the same issues. Most of the tires I ran were D rated and 33" or above.
