Front End Clunk - Found It!

Does anyone have the part number/vendor for the mounts in the picture? I have the same problem on my 2006 Sierra 4WD. The ones further in the thread look like the front.

Thanks

The ones pictured later in the thread are correct. For some reason the product description states "front" torsion bar mount bushings, but they are for the crossmember.

Welcome, great forum you found here, with just good ppl! I'm kinda new but not new to chevy 1500s Two things to check with your clunk, driveshaft (u joints) while in park move it up down left right. (u joints) go bad, they are a moving part. On mine even tho its a 4x4 I'm looking into Cab. Body mounts they go bad as well, checking those are different I live in FL where all the houses are built on hills for flooding so my drive is at a 30 to 45 deg. incline, I here clunking only really when I turn in after work might not be that but I took the lower mounts off b/c of old steps that were on the truck. Found that the bottom mounts had become rusted dust all that was left was the outter ring of rubber. You can check out my "gallery" I have the pics in there. Welcome Again and hope this helps!

My 2010 GMC SIERRA SLT Crew is making the same noise(s). Having the mechanic check this area(s) out as I type this. The noise/clunk/bang is so random it's hard to track down.

I GOOGLE'd and joined this site to see if this matched my truck's symptoms.....so far it's dead on! Great INFO!!!

Will keep all updated when I find out later is this is indeed the same problem I'm having!

By 2010 they stopped using torsion bars.

Yep.

Found that the driver's side swaybar link was broken. It was sitting in place and only made the big clunk noise when the chassis shifted enough for the torsion bar to flex. So I had both replaced.

All good

I have a 2012, that clunks/pops seemingly on both sides Drivers side more than any. I have been through about a dozen forums and have many possible issues and how many times they have come up, I will list them here with the amount of times Ive seen them arise.

-Body Mount 5

-Cross-member / Torsion Bar 5

-Upper Control Arm / Bolts 4

-Ball Joint 3

-CV Axle / Joint 3

-Wheel Bearing 2

-Sway-bar End Links 2

-Loose front Right/Left Caliper Bolts 2

-Rear Prop shaft Slip Yoke Splines 1

-Idler Arm 1

-Suspension Bolts 1

-U-Joints 1

-Hub Bearing 1

-Steering Shaft 1

-Drive Shaft 1

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All the possibilities seem wild, but because I cannot Replicate the noise (it does it at random). I figured it may be helpful to the service guys at the dealership if I give them this list of issues that other people have run into.

Thank you all for commenting on this forum, ive gathered some really good information. In return I wanted y`all to have the same list I made in case another problem turns up these could be some of the possible culprits. When and if I get a conclusion from the dealer I will remember to come back and let you all know what the cause of my popping is.

Thanks again
