'07 Silverado Speakers Cutting Out.

A few weeks ago, my silverado's door speakers would cut on and off at random, with just the two tweeters functioning. This problem went on for a couple of weeks until now it has just been the tweeters functioning. Yesterday I removed the stock head unit for inspection to see if any connections may have come lose. To my surprise, nothing has came lose. I then jiggled the two connections around and then I got the front door speakers working. I put it back together, as I was happy with the aforementioned progress.

Today I hopped in my truck and started driving around, when I noticed just the two tweeters producing sound.

I have played with all of the settings, unplugged my battery to reset everything, checked for blown fuses, and yesterday for lose connections. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem with their new body style silverados? I'm pretty sure that it isn't just the speakers that are blown as they were working at random, and I am not wanting to have to replace the factory head unit (because up until now, it has functioned just fine and I am not wanting to stray away from the stock setup).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I swear on mine randomly the front speakers will cut out, each one just randomly at different times. But by the time i fade it to the speaker the sound is there and the speaker is working. :seeya:

Its the speakers and all you can do is replace the speaker. I took my door panel off twice to look for a short and found nothing. My speaker quite working completey but would come on sometimes for like 5 mins.

As soon as I plugged up the new speaker it started working and I have not had anymore problems.

If your wire is loose on the speaker or the other end you have have issues with the speaker working/Not Working. All connections need to be tight. I replaced my speakers today on my 03 Silverado. The Tweeters worked but the plastic mounted points were broken and so they were just hanging behind the speaker grill. My new Speaker wiring Harness kit, the terminal connector on the positive side wasn't very tight at all. That's not good. So using some Pliers, I just squeezed them down just a bit tighter and then tried it once again on the speaker terminal and it went on nice and snug. Not going to wobble loose and have the sound cutting on/off on me. If the wiring is all good, then it's more then likely a speaker issue. You could have a broken speaker contact to the terminal mounting point. May not even notice it. Time to replace the speaker, and again even then to make sure your Terminal connections on the NEW Speakers fit SNUG so you have no future issues.

For what its worth, EXACT SAME TROUBLE WITH MY '07 NBS ext cab. In fact, when i bought it I thought the rear door speakers were just not there (maybe it wasn't an included option I thought). When one of my front door speakers started to cut out I had a look and found that not only were the fronts there but that the backs were too. This was odd b/c when I would fade to the rear there was NO SOUND (same as to the side the front speaker cut out on).

So yeah, seems like the factory sh$t just tends to shut off or cut out.

I intend to to put 4 new aftermarket speakers of the same size in the doors. I may cut the adapter/connectors off and wire them straight in at the speak so no jiggling loose is possible.

Also, im looking at 6-1/2 kicker speakers for the replacment as I have had rotten luck with sony and pioneer in my last truck.

i hope this fixes the cutting out but will be happy to post again and let you know. I am wondering how in the hell I will take those door panels of to get at them... looks like a Saturday with colorful language and a few brews so far but maybe it wont be that bad.
