Ordering Issue With Gm-tc Supporting Vendor

So I placed an order on 12/28 with one of our supporting vendors who posted a special on our forum (I am not going to name names because I want to give them the opportunity to make things right) and the item has not shipped yet and nor will it ship untill Monday 1/10.

Now I got a great price, and free shipping and I have been trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt because of the holiday but I find that 9 business days to process an order, meaning from the time order is placed and paid for (keep in mind that my CC was charged immediately so they were paid) to time the order is shipped is outrageous, unless we are dealing with a unforeseen natural disaster or something.

Someone please confirm to me that I am justified for being upset or if I am being too impatient.

Thanks in advance...

depends,

Were you told the item was on backorder?

Have they responded to any of your correspondences?

No notification of back-order prior to purchase (and still haven't been told that that is the reason for the delay if it is) and yes they have been responding to emails from me here and there but with no definitive answer as to why it is taking so long....

I agree it should have shipped out before New Year Eve like 12/29-12/30 (if it was in stock). Or early this week like 1/3-1/4 but 2 weeks later is too long. Even if they are a 3rd party seller and barely ever see an actual box its too long.

Way too long unless it was out of stock in which case, you should have been notified promptly.

I hate it when I buy something off the net and I wait and wait for the selling party to get their lazy

arse to the shipper and send it out. I paid promptly and was charged accordingly, get it in gear on

your end and all is well. If I have to even wait one day, after payment, to send something out that

I've sold on the net, the buyer is notified and appologized to, period.

Sorry, this just hits a sore spot for me.

Most places also do not charge your account until it ships.

A practice some vendors use is called "drop ship". Meaning they don't actually have the product(s) in stock but when you order they transmit your infor to the other supplier who then in turn ships the item to you.

well let's see.. you ordered on the 28th.. chances are they were closed from the 31st to the 3rd so take those 4 days out.. add to it they are an online company so they probably still received orders even though they were closed, so they may not be back ordered but back logged..

add to that if it is a "mom and pop" business, like a lot of online vendors are, they are probably drop shipping from a distributor and have no control of the drop ship date..

or maybe like my company, which is a $30 million a year company, we closed from Dec 24th thru Jan 3rd completely to give everyone (240 employees) time with their families (yes there are still companies that do this, and yes we paid them for the time off, it didn't come out of their pay, it is our version of a Christmas Bonus)

I understand that, and commend and respect that you give that time off but I am sure that you notify your customers in advance that you will be closed during that time period. They however were open during that week because I talked to them on the 28th.

And if they were closed all I needed was that as an explanation or notified of that up front. When I was in sales there was an unwritten rule that we followed that said "Under commit, and Over deliver". Meaning you will always look like a star if you set realistic if not padded expectations and then over deliver on them.

i understand where you are coming from... no we don't notify our customers we are closing, per say, we have over 9500 customers.. kinda hard to tell them all, we do set up auto responders on the email system so they get a reply stating we are closed, and we also have it on the 800 phone message..

that isn't to say people don't get pissed about it, but it is what it is, it's something we have been doing for 12 years, Christmas Eve to the next working day after New Year, in lue of cash bonuses, in essence it is the same because we still get paid, don't lose the vacation time we have and get time with our families.. our owners are very family oriented people, they value quality of life as well as quality of business.

but in your situation, I suspect it is a drop ship back log issue.. I have personally learned to expect 7 - 10 days out for shipping from most online services, except some of the "big boys" just one of the disadvantages to the whole online/mail order thing..

Posted

... bottom line ... if you don't like the service then tell them so, and then don't use their business again!

... complaining about it online here and getting your shorts all knotted up is going to serve absolutely no useful purpose.

... if they have given you an expected delivery date (whatever or whenever it is) ... then I don't think the service is all that bad ... just be patient

Holidays tend to knot up shipping in many ways. Lots of warehouse type operations close for a week or two after Christmas and sometimes into the new year. It can be a challenging time for sellers and buyers. Many companies do not warehouse all of their own inventory and instead drop ship from distributors. It keeps prices down.

If the company makes good on it and responds to my communications, I generally chalk it up to "life".

Well I feel like a total Jackass.... Came home from work today and the order was sitting on my doorstep.

In my defense, I was told that they would not ship until Monday 1/10. So there must have been some major communication between the vendor and the manufacturer....

So in summery, I got a great product, at a great price, free shipping, and in a timely manner with some communication issues....

Sorry, and thanks for all of your feedback and keeping me from getting more steamed! :wtf:

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
