Vibration

New to the forums but I've been a lurker for a while, I did some searching but couldn't find anything similar.

I have a 2000 Sierra 4WD with 135k miles on the 5.3, it is lifted 6" and on 35s.

I have vibration while accelerating in low rpms, 1500-2000 or so, at low speeds(0-20ish) and vibration while decelerating in the same rpm range, regardless of speed. If I stay on the gas slightly while slowing it doesn't vibrate. Vibration is bad enough that it could be compared to running over rumble strips on the side of a highway. There is no noticable vibration when cruising, or accelerating at higher speeds.

It also clunks when shifting from neutral to 1st or reverse from a stop but if moving slightly, 1mph or less while shifting it doesnt clunk. There is no grinding or whining noise while driving or stopped.

What could cause this? What should I check to help determine what the issue is?

Thanks

I'd probably start with the U-joints. Bad UJ's can cause vibration at various speeds but mostly under load accelerating or decelerating. If the vibration goes away when coasting that might be it. Good Luck.

if You ever took the drive shaft slide yoke apart , maybe to clean and grease it ,the u-joints on each end of the drive shaft MUST be paralell to each other if not that will produce a vibration
