what will it take to get a 305/55/20 on a 20x9 rim with a +14mm offset on my truck, all I currently have is a level kit on the front? Im trying to decide if I should go with a 305/50/20 or the 305/55. my current tire is 32.6" tall and the 305/55 is 33.2" tall and I dont come close to rubbing right now.....the 305/55 would only be .3" more on each side to the tire but everyone says its gonna rub.

Would a zone 1.5" body lift be enough for them to clear??

Ok thanks!

its crazy that it takes a 3" body lift to fit an extra 3/10 of an inch taller tire.

It's not that they won't "fit" necessarily. What are you willing to do? Cut metal? And it also has alot to do with the width of the tire more so than the height alone. I would go with a 3" and be happier in the long run. Everyone ends up wanting more height in the end.

Im not opposed to cutting metal but if I could find a way around it than I would rather go that route. Im not sure if I want to go with a 3" lift. I may just get the 305/50/20 and be on the safe side

I highly recommend sticking wtih the 50 series the 55 series is way too much for 1.5" of lift, not only will it rub like crazy but it flat out looks too big on the truck compared to the amount of lift.. To really properly clear the 305/55/20 you should do a 2" level and a 3" body lift or a 4" suspension lift. Its just the way she goes.

ALSO regardless of the fitment and size issues, the truck will run better with the 305/50s vs the 55's. They are lighter tire with less overall diameter.. (can you get a 305/50 in D range rather than E range?? that would be alot easier on the truck.) To properly run the 305/55/20 not only should you run the bigger lift, but 4.10 gears as well.

edit: i have personally ran a set of 305/55/20s for 50,000 miles on an 08 silverado. with and without suspension lift.
