Richmond is made in Liberty, South Carlina. These are what I would use.

Yukons are my next choice. They are very high quality.

Motive would be my last choice because they are a noisier gear than the others. They are also part of an organization called Midwest Truck and Auto parts located in Chicago. They have distribution centers in Los Angeles and Miami for the purposes of international sales. They do not readily say where their gear sets are produced but my gut feeling is that it is outside the US.

If I were looking I'd probably go with richmond or yukon, the guy that did my rear end builds all kinds of custom rear ends for drag cars and other custom applications and he uses mainly yukon, but he does have some richmonds also.

I put Yukon gears in my 03 Silverado (3.73). They made no noise, no one new it wasn't stock. I was satisfied.

I have no experience with other brands, just sharing my only experience.

I ran Yukon 4.88s in my Jeep TJ with no problems. Beat the crap out of them offroad and never had a problem. Not any noiser than stock that I could tell. It's all how they are setup in terms of gear whine.

I have installed both brands plus some others and both are quality parts. I had a little more trouble setting up the Yukons, but that could have just been luck of the draw I would not necessarily blame the gears.

Going to consider a posi up[grade at the same time???

Why don't you just find a 3.73 rear end from a wrecked truck and sell your 3.23 rear end. Much less headache and money spent.

Thats what i was thinking.. less money, less chance of things are gettin screwed up.

I put a Yukon 3.73 ring and pinion in my '97 Z28 in 2000. When that car was totaled in 2001, my buddy and I swapped the entire rear axle into his '94 T/A, which is still running quiet as can be.

I know its a different animal, but a positive experience with Yukon gears nonetheless.
