So I posted awhile back that I was having some real bad fogging, like no matter what I do my windows fog up unless I keep constant heat on them, or keep a window cracked (which sucks when it's cold) and a month or so ago water started dripping out of the light on my headliner.

I took the truck to the dealer and they told me it's def a problem, and I'm not the only one, but GM has issued no fix.

Is anyone else having the same issue? I went to one dealer (not the one I bought my truck from) and they said it might have something to do with one of the vent doors not opening, and the leaking has to do with condensation building up in the headliner, and then eventually leaking.

I'm about to phone GM customer service again, because my dealer keeps saying there is nothing they can do until GM issues a fix, and apparently they have issued one yet.

I live in Canada, if that makes any difference.

Sound like you might even have a leak from either the top of the windshield or the OnStar/XM antenna.

I can't imagine that a dealer would not take the time to drop the overhead console and headliner and look for any signs of leaks. That should be covered under the warranty and not have to wait for a TSB. Maybe you should bring that to the attention of GM when you call.

Are the air temps high enough to where you can run the A/C? I would run the defogger with the fan on the highest speed and turn the A/C on. If the air temps are high enough, the A/C will help to de-humidy the interior.

Subject: Excessive Cabin Moisture/Reduced Window Clearing

Models:

2010-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2010-2011 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL

With RPO C67 or CJ3

Manual Hvac System

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

CONDITION/CONCERN:

In rare cases, some customers may comment of excessive cabin moisture or difficulty keeping the

windows clear in low ambient temperatures.

RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTIONS:

If normal diagnostics do not lead to a correction, inspect the HVAC recirculation door by lowering the

glove box. The door should be in the "Fresh Air" position, which closes off the recirculation opening

behind the glove box when the HVAC controls are in the floor to defrost position. If not, then follow

the procedure below:

1. Turn the vehicle ON.

2. Set the HVAC controls to a Vent/Panel position.

3. Press the Recirculation button on the control head.

4. Move the HVAC controls back to a Floor / Defrost position

5. Verify the Recirculation door has moved to the Fresh Air position by visual inspection.

6. Return the vehicle back to the owner and instruction them NOT to use the recirculation button and

that Engineering is working on a software update.

7. If the vehicle returns with this concern and the recirculation door is again in the recirculation

position then Contact GM Technical Assistance.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition

exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be

performed.

The day I bought my truck the gauges were like this. However I bought a new leftover 2010 in 2011 and just assumed it was from sitting in the cold for so long. Since then I've never had another problem with condensation at all. I do park it in a garage at night but even when it sits at work in the snow it doesn't happen. I usually have my vents set to floor/defrost.

They did pull the headliner down when I had the truck in the first time (or the work order they gave me said they did) and saw no signs of leaking from the top.

And is this something I can check myself? Or do I require the special tools the dealer has.

Apparently it is something I can check, it looked like my vent was in the fresh air mode (it was open, not closed), and didn't change at all. When I hit the re-circulation button the button flashes a few times but the door doesn't move, whether I was set on vent mode, or defrost mode.

Taking it to the dealer anyways hopefully this week.

I have no problems with condensation. I have auto climate control just for the record because of the above post about manual climate control.

Hi there,

Have had my 2011 for just over a month, and have severe fogging issues. local service department has a software fix for the issue and will need my truck for a couple hours to do update. Told me they have done 8 already with 100 % positive resullts. Get in next week For the fix myself.

Hmmm I did have this once. I got in my truck and every single pane was frosted up to the point I couldnt see through it from the inside! I fired it up and let it heat up and it hasnt happened since but I have developed some odd water staining type marks on the carpet both pass and drivers sides just below the front seats. Its a white powdery looking stain similar to water damage. Whats this software fix you speak of?

Had my 2010 in for the same problem and they re-calibrated the hvac controller and haven't had the problem since. There is a service bulletin out for this problem.
