Odd Hot Wire

My truck DOES have mods.... A Viper alarm, remote start and K&N FIPK. I understand that this may not be a tech question, but I doubt there are many with my exact set up, so hopefully this isn't part of a mod....

 

I've got this odd, red, HOT wire sitting under my filter. At first I thought the battery had been relocated due to the FIPK, but I think driver's side is normal. I also don't think that this has anything to do with an amp for speakers... not even close to where power would need to go. I guess it could have something to do with the alarm or remote start, but I don't know. Hopefully someone knows what this wire is for. It is hot when the key is in Run... I haven't tried it in accessories.

It's definitely aftermarket, does it have fire 24/7 or is it switched by ignition or some other switch?

Fired when it's in RUN only... don't know about accessories. So if it is truly aftermarket... what the heck would it have powered? An electric supercharger? lol

You took the words right out of my brain that's why I asked if it was switched, that's seriously all I can think of....maybe a HHO generator also. Glad to see a fellow Georgian, they're very few of us here.

AHhh... there is a hidden switch in "sandwich holder" as I call it... under the radio. I'll have to check that. I haven't been able to figure out what it did... I got the truck about 8 months ago. He had it for like 7 years and the first owner for a year or so. He didn't even know it had remote start or an alarm...

It's a fuel saving device...or supposedly saves fuel. It makes hydrogen out of water to try and save gas by running the engine partly with hydrogen.

Hmmm.. I doubt that. Are electric super chargers real???

They sure do, but if anything they negate performance on our big v8 engines, anyway.

Exactly, they don't make real metal ones that actually give you boost, these are just like putting a leaf blower on the intake, mostly for ricers and whatnot.

So I checked it with the hidden switch flipped the other way. Still hot in RUN only...

follow it.. might be the switched connection for a relay to fire aftermarket HIDs, off road lights, or some such thing.. only way to know is to trace it down.

What it goes TO? It goes to some positive wire I reckon.. lol... I guess if it's not supposed to be there, it must have powered something right in that compartment. Any other ideas?
