Active Fuel Management

When I go on the onfo center to the economy mode it appears that my 5.3 AFM very rarely runs on V4. The mpg range goes from 0 to 99 mpg while driving. Is this a malfunction, as it appears the AFM is not working?

It will be at 99 (infinity) or a very high number when you are going very slow or stopped because there is no fuel economy in idleing and thats how the computer calculates it. I noticed AFM only activates in coasting or very light throttle/ low engine load conditions. Try leaving the INST ECON display up more often. You can kind of train yourself to be lighter on the throttle.....safer then talking on the phone and you may save a little on fuel too
