Tire Selection

Hey all. I have a 2000 Sierra 1500 Z-71 with factory tires. I'm going to need to replace them, but want a larger tire than is on there. I've read in other posts that if you go larger, you have to have the computer re-programmed to accept them or it will mess with shift points, speedo, etc. I've also heard that you can go bigger, but as long as they're not "too big", you'll be fine. Anyone know the exact specifications? If so, how large can I go before reprogramming is needed? Just wanting to know the maximum size tire I can put on there.

You can go up to a 285/75r16 by leveling the front end. Might have to trim a little plastic off the corner of the bumper valance. Reprograming the tire size takes 10 seconds with a tech 2 scan tool.

jtramsey, I think I've got 265/75/R16's on it right now. I'd like a taller, more aggressive tire. I just don't want to mess anything up. I'm kind of in the dark about all the electronics on this thing.
