2010 Factory Navigation Is Really Starting To Piss Me Off..

I complained about this awhile back. discovered that the GPS antenna connected at the unit had a bend in it that must've broke the wire.

the Antenna was replaced and for awhile the unit seemed to be working correctly..

but once again it has stopped locking a GPS signal and cannot triangulate my position. I purchased an aftermarket GM antenna off ebay and connected it and boom 12 satellites locked in. I mounted the antenna on the outside of the truck, figuring the internal location must be getting interference from all the electronic doo-dads on the truck.

for 2 days it was great, then again yesterday it was out of sync.. showed me driving west when I was driving north and had me in a city 70 plus miles from my actual location.

Dealer can't "re-produce" the issue, though they can see that it has the GPS with the red hash mark thru it meaning it can't lock a satellite, they claim that it is operating within normal parameters.

I spend $50,000 on a truck and an extra $2500 for the "premium" sound system and GPS and it is completely useless....

Never heard of this problem.

But I'll use this opportunity to say that GM's factory nav system in my truck sucks donkey balls. I hate that f'n thing.

overall I like the unit, and when it locks a signal it works well, and is a far cry better than the OEM Mopar unit I had in 2005..

but it's not working right and if I can't get it to function or get any GM help on it, I'll be replacing it.. I contacted Rosen about the Rosen ds-gm0710-n11 which maintains a factory look but incorporates aftermarket technology to see if I can retain all the functionality of the OEM system, XM, XM Traffic, OnStar, Rear Entertainment sytem, etc.

am i the only one experiencing these issues? no one else?

You must have something wrong with the system because I have owned three different 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet trucks with the factory navigation and have yet to have a serious problem with any one off the three.

well it's good to know it might be an isolated issue, and that replacing the unit might resolve it.. now to convice the dealer to replace it.. because as it stands, it's completely useless to me, it can't lock a signal and doesn't know where I am at, so using it is pointless.

Old-chevy-dude, over at dieselplace.com guys are saying the samething with 2010's & 2011's. Supposedly GM is aware of a problem and trying to come up with a fix. 1 guys has had everything replaced and still has problems picking up a GPS signal. Hope this helps

I hope I am not out of place by posting another website, just trying to help out.
