Skiing In Vermont

Here is a long story for you all,

So the family and I decided to goto Vermont to go skiing for a week and 2 other families joined us. I had my truck, sister and her family rented a GMC Envoy, and the other family had a Honda CRV. As we got closer to the hill ( Jay Peak) we hit some snow, wind and was fun driving on the back roads to get there. I was following the other 2 vehicles after we all got geograghicly challenged twice, we got with a few miles and the roads turned slick and getting rather steep with LOTS of twists and turns.

Envoy made it up all the big hills, as did I.....the Honda could not handle the roads, lost grip and was spinning half way up the one of the last big hills. I pulled ahead, grapped my tow rope, hooked up and hauled it up the hill...in 2 wheel, did not have to goto 4x4. Next hill, same thing.....and the last hill at the resort.....was getting rather tiring after the 3rd time. Driving to the condo, stuck again, this time one of the hill workers stopped before I could get there ( funny, he was in a GMC Sierra reg cab....) towed out the CRV....Go to park the CRV in over flow parking, had to tow it again......

I tow a 5th wheel a few times a year for camping, (got it because we had the truck) and also tow a 14' enclosed trailer for Scouting events. Everytime I travel in the truck, someone will ask, why take the truck, take your car....easier on gas, smoother ride, etc.....

This is yet another reason why....I own and drive a large, gas guzzling, 4x4 CC. AND love it.....

I love it!

I have a tiny little travel trailer (13') that I'm taking to the 12 hours of Sebring this year. My old truck could EASILY pull it.... But where is the fun in that?!

aahhhh i love that feeling towing some poor guy out...especially if its a ford or a dodge truck. just a couple weeks ago when i was driving home to ontario from alberta i got caught up in a HUGE storm on the border of manitoba and ontario. i was cutting fresh tracks in the highway at one point. 12 inches of snow on the highway, was in 4x4 going about 30-40kms an hour for about 3 hours. finally had enough, it was just getting worse so i decided to find a hotel...came up on this little town called falcon lake...was gonna pull over for a night. to my surprise i seen a 1/2 ford half way in the ditch, i stopped buddy missed the turn off to falcon(you couldnt really see the exit, barely tell where the road started LOL) so i whipped a strap out...yanked him out. he ended up gettin a motel room beside me, we went to the little town pub and got totally shitfaced waited out the storm ahaha. bugged him all night about the chevy pullin out the ford...i couldnt resist.

all in all, i will never ever drive anything unless its 4 wheel drive up here. i wouldnt go without. i must say my 33x12.5 Dick Cepek FC-2's perform very well in deep snow too.

Not sure if the CRV was 2 wheel drive, did not ask, it was running all season tires......figured that 4x4 would not help at that point.

Pictures??? I was too busy towing a Honda with the wife and kids in the truck, on a rather busy road....lots of traffic leaving the hill at 5PM....that and the camera was packed......that being said, they got 6 inches of snow that night before we all got to the hill. Great for skiing, not so much for driving.....Unless you are driving a GMC.
