No Oil Pressure After Oil Change

I had my 2001 Silverado 2500HD in for an oil change and to change oil coolant hoses going from the filter to the rad that were leaking a bit.

When I picked the truck up, it ran for 10 minutes and then the "check oil pressure" light came on and the motor sounded horrible (top end/no oil in lifters etc.) I immediately pulled over and turned the truck off. I checked the oil and it was still full, just not pumping or something to the head.

The truck has always ran beautifully with not hints to problems, oil pressure or other.

After having it towed back to the shop I got a call confirming from them that there was definately no pressure...and that this was "purely coincidental" to them working on the truck. I was told that they called around to check on what it might be and they were told this year and modes has some sort of a "plug" in the head that sometimes "just falls out"...they want to take the motor apart saying it is a very "labor intensive" job and investigate.

Does any of this sound coincidental or possible???? I'm thinking seriously unbelievably coincidental.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

thanks.

I'd look into their hose job they performed and the filter used. I've never heard the line about a "plug falling out".

+1 , never heard of plug falling out. I work at a dealer. Only thing I can think of if they didn't do something, would be the oil pump? Need to have diagnosed at reputable shop.

Was this a quick lube joint or real garage? I suspect maybe the filter, some have a bypass or check valve, if wrong filter was used. Also maybe coolant lines may have been crossed if that matters. plowking

get that truck outa there

+1

I wouldn't let them diagnose it

Thanks all,

The truck has 170,00 KM's and it was a "real" garage; not a quick lube kinda joint.

Think I just have to have it towed to the dealership and go from there. Still having problems with the coincidence part and them wanting to start tearing the motor apart and possibly causing more problems.

There's definitely no plug in these heads that can create loss of oil pressure, how many miles does it have?

Thanks. It's got about 105,000 miles.

Not a good situation.

Ps - Nice 2001.
