Squeaky Fan Belt Replacement Questions

Well I think it's coming time to replace my fan belt because on cold and/or damp mornings my belt is squeaking. My questions are for those of you who have replaced yours did you use the factory replacement or another aftermarket one? Also how difficult is it to replace?

I'm right around there at 40,000 miles too.

Have you priced one out? I haven't really heard about their fan belts but I know they make awesome snowmobile drive belts.

One more for the Gator Back.... You can them at Part Source on Ontario St . Not as pricey as you may think

I get the gator back belts for all my trucks,best belt around for the money just make sure you order the right size there's two belts for your truck you need to find out if you have the 145 amp alt or the other one

Hmmm.. There must be something in the VIN I would assume that would tell you that.

put your Vin in that decoder site and it should say which alternator you have in your truck

I think the rpo codes are K68-105 and KG3-145.

Had mine replaced and a idler pulley at 35000mi. all under warranty.

How difficult is it to change the belt on your own? or is it something that I will need to have done at a shop, I am pretty handy just never done it.

It's a lot easier to do than the 2004 or older truck with the fan and the fan cluth,but even those aren't that bad for some of us,all you need is to turn the pulley the to the way the belt gets loose and take it off.The hardest part is putting the new belt on,it is not as strecthed as that one so just cranked down on the pulley and slip that bad boy back on.It should take a hole 5 mins if that.O dont forget THE GATORBACK BELT
