Afm "semi" Disable

Recommended Posts

For those of you who want to disable AFM without a tune, just select the manual shift mode and don't let the transmission shift to 6th gear. (AFM will only activate in D or M6) I personally don't like how the system is on and off all the time in stop and go driving...... in town, I put the selector in M5 when driving under 80 km/h. It seems in most cases, by the time you are up to speed and the AFM activates, trans is in 6th and torque converter locks up......you're already slowing down for the next red light or being cut off by someone anyway, so less wear and tear on the transmission and AFM system.

This is how I drive most of the time around town, the rpm jumps about 200 over being in D. Out cruising I leave it in D. I have to drive at 25 to 40 mph in my area and I don't like the feeling when its in V4. Given the option I would never want AFM in a truck, no matter how much fuel it saved.
