2007-2011 is probably the same.

Dont get it one!

I got one, and it worked for awhile but it started causing me problems the key would give me a hell of a time to open it.

But the main thing is the damn thing lets air in and out of the gas tank, through the keyhole I imagine, and when my fuel vent solenoid failed, the dealer told me to come back with the non-locking one or they'd not cover it under warrenty. He might have been full of it, but it did make sense.

I was pissed! Paid $50 for it  From GM!

Might I add why would you want one? I dont think you can siphon todays vehicles. Although Im not sure on that.

"Modern" fuel thieves just drill holes into the bottom and sides of the tank thus making any type of locking fuel cap ineffective.

I bought my 09 Chev Crew Cab in '10, and went to gmaccessorieszone to try to buy a locking gas cap, but there were none listed. Did some internet research and discovered that Stant company made the OEM regular gas caps for GM that year. Went to Stant's website to find the correct part number. They do make locking gas caps in two colors--black (regular fuel) and yellow (flex fuel vehicles). I then took that part number to my local Advance Auto Parts store and they ordered me one and it came in 2 days. Looks just like factory gas cap, but with the lock. Works great. Wouldn't go without a locking cap around here, as much as to prevent fuel theft (happens weekly in apartment lot where I live) as to prevent some jackwagon with too much time on their hands from 'adding' something unwanted to tank [which I have had before, too.] I understand that modern gas thieves will sometimes just puncture the tank, but they haven't gotten around to that in my neighborhood--yet.

I hate them. I have one on my cruiser (Crown Vic PI) because my PD requires it. They don't last and I usually have to replace it every year or so due to either lock failures or the whole thing falling apart.

I've always installed locking gas caps in all of my vehicles that didn't have a locking fuel door and and have never had any problems. I add a quirt of WD-40 in the keyhole in the Spring and Fall and that keeps the lock from binding throughout the year.

Has anyone put the locking fuel door on?

At my old job we used to sell these and they are not the greatest quality. If you live in the saltbelt or by the ocean this is a don't. The chrome/Aluminum starts to peel (At least the ones made by BULLY did). I have seen dozens of these returned. They function great but look awful after about a year.

good to know, thanks. I will eventually get a locking cap, I like the stock look... I wish GM would just make a locking door standard... no key needed, just an inside release.

I've had a GM locking cap on my 06 for over 4 years with no problems.

I'm not afraid of gas stealer, its just that I live in Montreal and people just have to much time and sometime they put all kind of shit in your tank, I went on Stant but the 2011 Sierra is not listed, they don't have any caps for the '11 on their site??

I like locking gas cap doors that release with pull of a lever inside the vehicle. Simple and practical. Many Japanese and German vehicles still have that feature. My old Mercedes diesel has a vacuum actuator which automatically locks the fuel door when the car is locked.

Do you have the part number for that?
