Issue Getting Bluetooth To Recognize "dial" Command

I just purchased a 2011 GMC Sierra a few days ago. I love the features, but I am having trouble with the Bluetooth device. I press the correct botton, say "Bluetooth", it recognizes that command, but when I say "Dial" or "Call" it hardly ever recognizes either. Instead it thinks I said "Help". I have tried pronouncing both words many different ways with no consistant luck. I would appreciate anyone who could help me with this matter.

To use the dial command you do not use the "Bluetooth" command. Sinply press the button and say "Dial" and then the number.

 

To use the call command from saved numbers in the trucks memory, press the button and say "call" and the name tag you assigned it.

 

To use the voice commands of the phone, press the button, say "Bluetooth", once truck acknowledges say "voice" and then the truck will enter the phone voice commands and follow whatever instructions your phone has for voice dialing.

DIAL and CALL only work from the address book saved in the car/onstar system, not from the names/numbers in your phone...

 

to use the voice dial system from your phone.

 

press the bluetooth mute button once, then press a second time and hold, when it says READY, say BLUETOOTH, when it says BLUETOOTH READY (or something like that I forget) say VOICE.

 

it will then switch to the voice dial feature of your phone (if it has one) works perfect with my Droid and my Blackberry. Then you say DIAL and the number or name based on the whatever the functions of your phone are, because at this point it has passed the conection to the phone.

You might not be waiting long enough either. I had that issue at first, I was talking to soon.

not for me, it doesn't recognize the word DIAL, except via the OnStar using the OnStar minutes and not my cell phone.

 

using DIAL from the bluetooth fails every time unless I say VOICE first, then the DIAL is from my phones voice commands not from the Trucks Bluetooth system.

 

*edit* there is another function stated in the owners manual called digit dial, the difference seems to be DIAL is saying the number all at one time and Digit Dial is saying and confirming each number separately (which seems annoying as hell) .

 

Using the Dial Command

1. Press and hold b g for two seconds. The system

responds with “Ready” followed by a tone.

2. Say “Dial”. The system responds with “Dial using

<phone name>”. “Number please” followed by

a tone.

3. Say the entire number without pausing.

. If the system recognizes the number, it

responds with “OK, Dialing” and dials the

number.

. If the system does not recognize the number, it

confirms the numbers followed by a tone. If the

number is correct, say “Yes”. The system

responds with “OK, Dialing” and dials the

number. If the number is not correct, say “No”.

The system will ask for the number to be

re?entered.

 

 

Using the Digit Dial Command

1. Press and hold b g for two seconds. The system

responds with “Ready” followed by a tone.

2. Say “Digit Dial”. The system responds with “Digit

dial using <phone name>, please say the first digit

to dial” followed by a tone.

3. Say the digit to be dialed one at a time. Following

each digit, the system will repeat back the digit it

heard followed by a tone.

4. Continue entering digits until the number to be

dialed is complete. After the whole number has

been entered, say “Dial”. The system responds

with “OK, Dialing” and dials the number.

. If an unwanted number is recognized by the

system, say “Clear” at any time to clear the last

number.

. To hear all of the numbers recognized by the

system, say “Verify” at any time and the system

will repeat them.

in all honesty the system is rather retarded.. using the VOICE command works great for me, as my Droid X Voice Command system is tits..

I simply use the dial method. I know the phone numbers I call (comes from being old and not using memory dial on phones), so I just press and hold the mute button for 2 seconds, wait for the tone after it talks to me and say Dial, it will respond that is using my phone and then a tone, after the tone, just say the number as one string, no pausing. It shows me the number on the DIC and then says it is dialing it.

If I want to use the OnStar phone, press the phone on the mirror instead. The biggest thing to pay attention to is the tone, I sometimes don't wait for it and it screws the number up.

mine is shaky as well. I get the " did u say help" question alot too...I use the steering wheel mute button. I say "call" and speak the number quickly, after it says ready.

I don't say caaaalllllllll......, but, "CALL" loud and quick, try not to hesistate saying the number either...say it quickly without pausing. I like the system.
