Oil Pressure High

Hello,

I have a 2000 Chevy 1500 truck with 307,592 miles on it. No real major work done to the engine. Sart up oil pressure is just shy of 40 and once i let it warm up and get onto the highway its goes to 58psi. I just had the oil pressure shoot to 70-72 psi which worries me because there has only been one owner and I watch my oil pressure more than my fuel pressure because I have so many miles on it. I was only traveling 50 MPH, not even on the freeway yet. It has never done this before. Any suggestions? Should I be concerned?

Thanks,

Chris

I would have the oil pressure sending unit changed. I think they're about $25 and just screw into the block. I've drag raced for 14 years and never saw oil pressure shoot up 28lbs unless the sending unit screws up. Just my $.02

With that many miles I'd be more worried about LOW oil pressure. :(

My money is also on the sending unit. Common problem.
