In With The New-out With The Old

Fortune was smiling on me this weekend. I guy called me out of the blue to say he was interested in buying my old 1984 K3500 Sierra dump truck. This has been sitting for years and was burried under six feet of snow. He had seen it from afar but since it had no for sale sign on, it he had no way of contacting me. This gent had been looking around the truck when my son, who had been working for me last week, saw him and asked if he needed something. The guy told my son he might interested in buying the truck. My son gave him my number. I got the call Saturday morning. The guy said he wanted to come look at the truck more closely. After looking at it for a while he came up with an offer. He had $800 in cash. I agreed. I told him I could dig the truck out with my Kubota so he could pick it up. About a half hour digging it out of the snow and it was free. The guy shows up with a nice old ramp truck and loads it right on. I was surprised to see the wheels break free after sitting so many years. For a truck that needed a motor and quite a bit of metal work on the cab I think I did OK. The coincidental thing was that just after I signed over the title to the GMC, the mailman arrived at the house with the title to my new (old) 1999 Chevy K3500 dump. Since I only paid $1,200 for the "99, the net cost of the new truck was $400. Nice upgrade from an '84 to a '99 Turbo Diesel in good working order. With only 79,000 miles on the new truck, I should be good for years to come.
