the whole "gas prices are going to go to 5 bucks a gallon" is marketing through fear..they want you to buy gas as fast as possible, so they can rake in the money...gas is high right now because libya isen't producing alot of crude, and iraq's largest is shut down so refinerys here are putting a choker on the prices to make a large short run profit before they are forced to lower the price....protesting won't do dick, not pumping gas for a day won't do dick either...its a matter of rolling with it and keep an eye on the price of crude per barrel(if it lowers, fuel prices will lower within a week)

Im looking for a Cavalier as of now. The truck will probably only be used to go to work and back (4 miles round trip), and to haul the fourwheelers or anything else I need. Any other trips will be with the car.

Gas prices in Ottawa today are around 1.22litre (4.61 US gallon). Diesel is about the same.

I don't drive my truck daily, I have a Buick Lasabre for that. It's not a small car by any means, but it's smaller than my 3500HD. ;)

well, prices keep creeping up, and that is making me wonder, what will we do when prices hit $5 a gallon? Please vote in the poll.

Just dont know if its worth buying a little car unless maybe you have a long daily commute. If you get a beater for 1500, then all the fees, registration, insurance, upkeep ect ect...in a years time are you really saving anything?

They won't be that high for long as an increase in fuel prices to that proportion will just drive this country right back into a recession. Until then, I'll suck it up seeing as how my daily commute is less than 5 miles.......total.

I already bought a 2000 cavalier about 4 weeks ago. Been driving on a tank now for about 3 weeks now and still little under 1/4 tank left. I will mainly use my truck to haul the bikes to the drag strip this summer and to cruise on the weekend or go on long trips.

In April of 08, I bought a 2000 Toyota Echo, or as I call it, "the Clown Car". I have a 65 mile per day commute, so the 17 mpg in the Silverado was costing me about $400 per month.

Still drive that car every day, it has more than paid for itself in gas savings alone (38 mpg). Went from 25,000 miles per year on the truck to about 7,000 per year.

Still use the truck for long trips, or taking the kids around, like the safe feeling of the truck on the highway.
