Throwing Codes

So today on my way home my CEL came on. I'm thinking wtf since I haven't really done anything to it. So I pulled over and tried my gas cap since I just filled up and then restart. Nothing...

Finally get home and check the codes with my Diablo Predator. Got 3 codes, P101 air flow, P171 Running rich and P174 Running rich. So I pop the hood and notice my K&N intake had slipped away from the hose clamp near the intake manifold. Tightened it back up, cleared the codes and went for a drive.

Seems to be good now.

So I am wondering if having air being sucked in bypassing the filter, will it cause those codes?

And btw, I do remember reseating my filter on the weekend too so I may have slipped the intake off the hose clamp. And I haven't had those codes before either and my filter and intake has always been properly seated.

Thought?

Actually thats been a problem for the K&N intakes. I had a similar issue on the S10 I had. Also, don't over oil the filter either. If you do, you can get oil on the MAF sensor and cause other codes to trip.

Good to know. I thought I tightened the clamp down properly but guess not.

Going to have to make sure I put it all back properly when I pop it off next time.

I know the over oil thing too. I've had oil build up in the throttle body and some lube guy said I needed a gas line purge to reduce build up in my engine.
