Lo-beam Headlamps Keep Burning Out

Over the past year I have had to replace 3 low beam bulbs so far.

A year ago the factory left side low beam went out and I replaced both the left and right with the Silverstar. A month ago my right low beam went out and then last week my left side went out again.

Anyone have an idea what might be causing this? Is it possible that the factory lights going out so soon was a fluke and the new Silverstar lights don't have a long life (i read that about the blue tinted bulbs from other sites tonight)?

Also, I did not touch the bulbs when I installed them, and there are no signs of moisture in the housing for the bulbs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have found, as I bet many others have, that the 'higher performance' headlight bulbs last no where near as long as the cooler burning oem bulbs. It does seem that yours are more frequent than they should be. Have you checked your shocks? Believe it or not, the extra vibration may be causing premature bulb failure.

I find the silverstar bulbs dont seem to last long and almost everyone you ask says the same. I wanted brighter lights without going to HID kit and so I decided on the Hella bulbs, nice bright white light and the lows are rated for 550hr life, whether they last that long is another thing but so far so good.

I only use HIDs now as I was tired of replacing bulbs due the the filament dying because of vibration. With todays low-beams being used for DRLs like in my Silverado, HIDs make more sense and usually you can get 5-8 years out of the bulbs. If they are hard to replace then even more reason to go with HIDs.

If you drive in commuter traffic for 10000 miles then the OE bulbs probably have reached their useful life anyway.

when i had my 08 Aveo, i had to change out low beams all the time, even with the Silver Stars. the main thing is the lows were also the DRL's so they were on all the time. now the Silver Stars L/H that i have in my 03 have been in and working since 9-03..IMO- i do not think the quality of the bulbs have changed, just the amount of hours the bulbs are on..
