New 2500hd Gas Owner Here! I Have Some Questions About It. Looking

Howdy!

New 2500HD gas owner checking in. I just picked her up today. Late 2009 with 10K on it. I traded my 97 Silverado in for it. That truck had 150K on it and served me well! I was hauling a open car trailer a few times a year with my 97 but I'm going to haul a enclosed trailer around now and I figured I'd better step up to the 2500HD so I took the plunge. So far I love it! These trucks are just amazing. It just feels like a monster going down the road. I wanted the duramax but with the fuel going up and up along with the extra paper the duramax option brings to the used ones, for a nice low mile one they were out of my range. I've heard lots of good things about the 2500HD gas so I figured why not!

2 things I want to do with the truck...

One is add the tow mirrors so I can see around the enclosed trailer. My questions are... Does anyone have the GM part number for them? I have a friend who works at a dealer and I should be able to get decent pricing on them new from GM. Are they plug and play? I have heated mirrors now will that work on the new ones and will the turn signals work on the tow mirrors by just plugging in the tow mirrors? I don't have turn signals on my current mirrors. Will I have full control of them? I want GM as I have not found anything good in aftermarket mirrors plus I'm one of those guys who keeps his GM trucks all GM!

The next thing is I see my truck came with option code TRW – SIONS LAMP, ROOF MOUNTED but I don't have the roof lights. I have the switch on the roof console. What does it mean by having this option code? Is there a GM part number for the kit? If so what are the part numbers. Again I only use GM parts on my GM truck! I also want the tinted LED type I've seen on some of the new GM truck. How hard is this to do? Should I take it to the dealer for the install. Can my body shop do this? I'm worried about them being in the correct place along with no leaks and or rust starting from the holes they need to drill. But I love the look of those roof lights so hopefully you guys can help me make that happen as well!

I have all my option codes at the bottom. Figured you guys would like to have a look see what my options are. The only one I can't find anything for is 3SA Can't seem to find what that means.

Also can I order the original window sticker from someplace? I'd like to have the original window sticker if possible.

Can't wait to get that trailer on the back of my truck and put her to work! Hopefully around July is my first tow haul with it. Is there any tips for towing with these trucks? I know you can read all day in the manual but real life tow stories are always best! She is a virgin to tow with. The hitch is untouched. One of the reasons I picked it up!

Ok here are some pic enjoy!

The "Provisions Roof Mounted Lamp" is in correlation to another code on the list you posted, VYU plow prep. That provision is for a rotating beacon or other type of light for snowplowing. RPO code U01 is for the five lamp roof marker.

As for the roof marker lamps. The led ones you seek are on 2007-2011 trucks. 2007 and back use regular bulb marker lamps. To put these in you will need the harness and the assemblies for the lights. Installing should involve plenty of measuring and possibly making a template from a similar truck with the lights and then drilling into the cab, and wiring. As far as part numbers go:

25826849 - right lamp

25826848 - left lamp

25826850 - center lamp

25823584 - harness

These are from this thread on this site: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85401 It would be best to double check at a dealer if these are correct.

3SA if I understand is standard equipment for SLE trim. I may be wrong on this.

Last of all...congrats on the new truck! Hope it serves you well.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like more of a project then I wanted to get into mounting those lights. I was hoping to pop the headliner down and find marks and the harness for the roof lights. I still might pick up the recon lights down the line and play with that project

Any idea on the big towing mirror part numbers? Will those plug and play?

I just learned to use the blue tooth feature. Sounds great neat feature! Still learning all the options on this beast! I love driving it that's for sure!

I basically have an identical truck as you do and I added the tow mirrors. They are plug and play- pretty easy to swap out. The turn signals work and they both power. I bought them on another forum, so I can't help with the part number...sorry!

Enjoy the truck! Just put 500 miles on mine this weekend

Hey that looks like my brother!

I have been researching all night! lol This is addicting looking for goodies! But I struck gold!! Check this site out....

ALL kinda goodies! Just for future reference the part number for the heated, turn signal, tow mirrors is 19202235 Looks like $315 for the set from GM parts.com but I think I can even do better then that from my dealer without getting raped from gmpartsdirect shipping prices! I'll find out Monday. You also need the option code DL8 to make these work. And I have that so should be plug and play!

I just learned how to hook up the blue tooth today. That's a neat feature. The phone number caller ID comes up driver information center.

Hey it's my truck with nice rims and tires!! I like it! Looks great!

The switch on the roof/light console is for the VYU plow prep

option for a aftermarket added beacon/warning light.

You could use it to operate/power your self added roof marker

lights.

More VYU info can be found in the snowplowing thread here:

http://www.letstalksnow.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9623

Yea I finally got around to reading that part of the manual. 30amp live circuit up there for the strobe or beacon. With the plow package you loose the roof lights. It might be something down the road I'll add. I really like the look of those roof lights!
