Malibu Wheel Covers?

I need some opinions...before you read on, purchasing aftermarket rims are out of my budget and I'm not considering it!

 

I just bought an '05 Malibu for work...great shape, but it has the black 15" steel wheels with the silver wheel covers. There's a few black streaks on the one (probably from a cleaner?) that's not noticeable to anyone but me, but I'm anal about those things.

 

I was going to sandblast/re-paint the wheels, but should I just go for new hubcaps, or would I be okay to prep/paint them? If so, keep it the stock silver or something different?

 

BTW...the car is green silver metallic.

Just keep the stock caps and paint em a nice bright silver or even some chrome paint might look nice...but I have never tried it.
