My 2011 GM has the wind noise and the dealer has ordered what they need to fix it.

Did you ever get the wind issue fixed? If yes, what did the dealership do to fix the problem? I have had my truck in twice (2011 Silverado Extended Cab) to the dealership and I still have the problem.

I have had my truck in 3 times for this, once for the tsb to get done. the other 2 times they look at me like I don't know what I'am talking about. The service manger has the same truck as me and doesn't understand what my problem is with the noise. He keeps saying it's a truck what do you expect. The tsb has done nothing to reduce the noise at all. My 2006 was a lot quieter than this 2011.

Oh yeah I forgot the last time it was in they told me it was my tonneau cover and I needed to take it off after the fact that it was there for 2 days. Would have been nice to get a call and they tell me to come take it off.

I would like to know what rear cab liner is in the ones with the noise. I checked mine, which is made in Mexico and I have the rubber covered rear cab liner and it is VERY quiet. I think the problem is more the ones without the rubber covered liners.

I found this on another forum. Putting tape on the plastic on the outside edge of the windshield. Did anyone try this and did it work. http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t30875_ds41307

I use to have a bug deflector on the front but was told to take it off by the dealer, my noise is coming from the rear not the front. I just wish GM would fix this problem, I can live with the other problems I have with the truck.

I might have the noise fix. I also found this post http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f53/win...412/index2.html

quote.gif It is the reveal molding on the side of the windshield . Open the doors and fold the rubber back there is 4 #15 torx screws under the rubber strip you only need to loosen them a little and put two way tape under the molding . When you tighten the screws back up it WILL SEAL. I had to do my 2010 Silverado and a tech told me how to fix.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had the truck into the dealer and showed them this post.

They said that is what they did to my truck, but the only thing on my paper work from them said that they found bulletin 08-08-48-003f*** Tech Comments: Secure molding per bulletin.

On the way home from the dealer I thought I kept hearing the noise, because I am so use to hearing it. To test to see if I still heard the noise, I turn everything off in the truck (radio, A/C, etc). I could not do this for too long, because of the heat and I had to turn the A/C (fan) back on.

I will give it a little more time before I decide if the noise is really gone.

I took my truck to a different dealer Friday and spoke to the salesman that I had bought 2 trucks for work through and he grab a service guy and asked him to go for a ride in my truck. As soon as we hit about 60 kms he turned to me and asked how long has the noise in the back been there, I told him since i bought the truck. He just shook his head and that is not good, he also couldn't believe that the first dealership couldn't hear it. He is going to call me on Monday after he speaks to a GM rep. that is coming in on Monday. Hopefully I get somewhere next week with them.

My 2009 Silverado has wind noise that blows in from the front doors. I bought some half round rubber door seal from Home Depot and laid in the door seal not taped just laid in there. I closed the door and drove it and it's been reduced greatly. Now all I have to do is find this stuff in black and figure a way to have it there so it does not look like crap!! Currently I don't have it in there.....funny I would rather have the noise than have the door seals look like crap

It sounds like you get the same noise I get from my front doors when I go 50 plus MPH.

Take your truck to your dealer and tell them to fix the noise.

Give them the number from what my dealer did to my truck. -----08-08-48-003f

Well my truck is back in the dealer and they are trying to fix it right, they told me they are going to replace the padding from the back wall with one from a 2012 and put the rear inner fender liners. I have never seen a dealer trying so hard to make things right. A GM rep told them that the rear wall pad is thicker on a 2012 and covers more than the 2011.

Well after the truck being at the dealer for the whole week I got it back yesterday and I still have the noise. I'm really getting frustrated with my truck. I know they replaced the rear pad and put spray foam in somewhere. I seem to have more noise coming from the doors now, also when I have the air on and put the window down a little you can hear the fan speed up.

Does this problem happen on the 3/4 and 1 tons, I'm thinking of switching.

for those with the windshield noise at freeway speed....

i finally didn't the silicon mod... bought some clear silicon and ran a bead down each side molding on the windshield. no more rain-type noise when driving at highway speed.

the double-side tape method posted above in post 21 should work also. i chose the silicon method thinking it would be less noticeable than double-sided tape sandwiched in there.

Hell I had a break though yesterday with my road noise problem. My truck has the 20 inch rims and I went to put on my winter tires, I went with 17 inch rims and blizzaks. NO more noise, it's gone. I can't believe that just by switching tires the noise is gone. So happy until spring.
