My 2011 Extended Cab came from the factory with a very noticeable wind noise that sounded like someone left a door or window open. It came from the passenger side, in the rear area of the truck. Am just curious to see if it just affects certain trucks or just some. In my case the dealership fixed the problem, plugged one vent and used foam to muffle the other as it was explained to me. Am not sure I like the method used in fixing the problem but at least things are now quiet.

The only time i notice any wind noise in my pickup is while on interstate and their is a very noticable cross or head wind, but other then that it is pretty quite.

There is a service bulletin out there for this. Just bought an 2011 GMC crew cab and they added some insulation piece according to the bulletin.

Does anyone know where the insulation goes or how its installed, my truck has this noise

and I would like to know what they are going to do before I go in.

Mine is going in today for the wind noise.

Had taped off the sunroof & it did help some, but not all.

It's a lot more than just road noise !

Am wondering if the problem isn't caused by a flopper valve in one of the vents being twisted or not closing. This is pure speculation on my part. Wonder also if in replacing the vent assembly if the box has to be removed in order to access the vent and if that is the reason that GM is coming up with these stop gap measures to muffle the problem. One can see the vents by looking between the box and the rear of the cab (black plastic rectangular assemblies).

I will say that they did solve the wind noise problem when I took my extended cab in but wish I could have watched them to see exactly what they did. The GM tech wrote on the repair invoice (covered by warranty or the dealer) that "found the passenger rear vent stuck open, blocked passenger rear vent and applied foam in rear isolator panel, reassembled."

my 2010 crew cab has this really badly. The dealer said it was normal and refused to do anything. Niagara Falls Chev for anyone near Niagara Falls Canada...probobly the worst dealer I have ever been to.

I found a service bulletin number: 10-08-58-001

I'm not sure this is the one since I grabbed it from another forum and I've had no luck on my search. Anyone have a website?

My 2011 GM has the wind noise and the dealer has ordered what they need to fix it.

Did you ever get the wind issue fixed? If yes, what did the dealership do to fix the problem? I have had my truck in twice (2011 Silverado Extended Cab) to the dealership and I still have the problem.
