i let a friend ride my built 350 warrior one night, and he ran it into the side of my truck... i found a used door and put on it, but the color is slightly different as can be seen in my sig pic. i was able to do the whole job for 350, the original quote i got from a body shop was 2200 to skin and paint. havent seen a penny from him, it happened on 4th of july weekend, and has been fixed for two months.

Got t-boned by a meth head in a stolen 2010 Civic that ran a red light, loudest noise I've ever heard in my life. Bastard got out and ran too. Luckily I wasn't too hurt, but it was definitely lucky that I was driving a truck, because he spun me around twice, and pushed me about 30 or 40 feet across the intersection. Apparently he was doing about 60 or 70 when he hit me.

A few years back i,d purchased a suburban LS,,,leather everything...really nice truck....well....i put a K-9 barrier in the back and took one of my young dogs and a buddies dog to training. I parked by the training area where they were doing agitation, took my buddies dog out for a go and left mine in the back of the truck. I wasnt gone 15 mins,,i dont think,,,,anyway...apparently my guy decided he liked the noise and excitement..broke down the barrier,,and litterally ate my interior,,,,,both frt seats,,,both door panels and a huge chunk out of the back seat. This truck was more or less a month old. Needless to say...i opened the door,,,,fought off the nausea,,closed the door and walked away. That dog has NO idea how lucky he was...

Today I was in the left turning lane and decided I wanted to go straight, so I bolted int the other lane, and in my blindspot was a Tahoe coming into the same lane i was going into, and my front corner side swiped him. I now have to have both front fenders replaced, front bumper, all the headlights, and front bumper replaced. Really saddens me but I know when she gets fixed she'll be better tha new.

This happened about 7-8 years ago. I was driving home one night after bringing my mom home from the hospital. She had complications after a quad bypass and was in for 3 months. So, i was finally feeling good about life in general again. it was raining, about 9:30 pm at night, at a four lane divided highway intersection. I took off from the light, driving normal, maybe a little slower because of the rain. A woman darts out of nowhere, she had been standing on the median about 50 yards from the intersection. Runs right in front of my truck. I hit the horn, scream, cut the wheel to the right as she was doubling back, and hit her. She bounced off the hood and rolled. I stopped the truck and ran out into traffic to keep people behind me from hitting her. She was uncounscious in the middle of the road. I grabbed my cell phone, called 911 and started to see if i could help. People were trying to pick her up, i lost it started yelling to leave her where she was. I am an Eagle Scout and have had some traing in first aid.. #1, don't move people unless you know they have no neck/back injuries, or they are in immediate danger, like fire, etc. Paramedics arrive, cops arrive, etc.. they stablize her and air lift her out to the trauma center. At this point i was sitting on the median trying to process everything that happend. Talked to 3-4 different officers.. i had not been drinking, i wasn't on my cell phone, wasn't switching cd's, not goofing off, not speeding, nothing..the officers took my report, looked over my truck, and let me go. Luckily, i was only 2 miles from home...i went home, and just collapsed..Had some more interviews with the same detective the next day... i was not at fault at all. Turns out she was drunk.. leaving a bar. She had no license because of too many DUI's. She wound up passing away three days later.. on my birthday. The detective came to my office so i could sign the final reports...I still have the damage to my hood, i have replaced the headlights, grille, and lower valance. On the hood, you can still see where her hand must have had ring on it, and left scratches and a couple decent sized dents on one side. One day, i'll get a new hood, cowl induction hopefully.

To this day, i can still hear the noise and see her bouncing off my truck.. i get a little paranoid driving at night in the rain still to this day.

Why didn't insurance pay for repairs?

RCP:

Have a friend who's son started having seizures about at @ 1 1/5 yrs old and from what my buddy told me, the diagnostics sound similar to yours so far. My buddy did say the doc's said that sometimes kids just grow out of that stuff. Happily his son did grow out of it. I hope your lil guy is getting better!

Some rough stories in here. And some stupid ones (all you idiots who admit to driving drunk...).

RCP, I don't see how anyone could blame you for what you did either. I don't have kids but I'd be out of my mind if I had to go through something like that. Hope the kiddo is doing better!

Doug scott..might sound dumb now but at the time i didnt want to take the money. I did file the claim as they were involved with paying the estate of the pedestrian but i didnt want my part. I have repaired everything else..

On a Saturday we met at the new house of my boss to party the move in.

A co-worker showed up with the company vehicle (VW T4) 'cause he had to work the next day.

Around midnight my wife came to pick me up and we left a little after my co-worker.

Five minutes later we catched up to him. The road was a little up hill and there was a traffic light turning red. My co-worker made it but we had to stop.

When we startet moving again over the top of the hill I saw the van up side down in the incoming lane and 3 other cars badly damaged.

Turned out that he fell asleep behind the wheel, went to the left, hit a sport car, got the van launched in the air and while he was flying hit 2 more cars and landed finally on the roof.

My co-worker seriously injured, the driver of the sport car died and two more people in the other cars also seriously injured.

After the investigation by the police it turned out that everybody at the party saw him drinking coke. No one realized that he stretched the coke with alcohol. I should say that my co-worker was known as a guy who is actually not a drinker. He didn't even know why he drunk so much that night.

Since that day I never ever touched a drink when have to drive or better did not drive when I had a drink (even only one beer).

It is sad that I had to witness an accident like this to realize that alcohol and driving is not a good mix.

I've just been lucky that I didn't hurt or kill someone 'cause I was driving drunk.

It happened 17 years ago.

so long

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
