Is it just me or is there just a lot more wheel well room in the 2008+ models vs prior years.

I was reading an old post on some other forum and found this pic of some 325/50/20s on a 2000 with 20x8.5 rim. Not sure about the offset, but the owner does have a leveling kit and torsion bar turned down.. I do wonder if he needed both of those mods though.

Looks sweeeet! Luv that stance!!!!!!

Check out the comparison to some other close 20 inch sizes. the 325 is shorter than what come stock in a lot of 20 inch factory rims. My experience is that taller tires bump the arm or torsion (whch can't easily be fixed) but wider tires often rub the inside fender if offset is more positive, or the outside fender if too negative.

I'd hate to make a $3000 mistake so would like to know for sure.

So my question is... can a 2011 Silverado stock 2wd run 325/50/20 on stock rims? or some 20x9 or 8.5 rims.. if so what would be a good offset.

Thanks in advance.

Stock tire height for a 2011 Chevy 1500 with the factory 20s is 31.9". Those 325/50s are taller and way wider.

Mostly I'm researching tires before buying the truck. It seems the wheel wells on the newer chevys is huge. Anybody know exactly where these tires would rub and if some minor cutting might allow safe application.

Thanks.

Actually I think they are worse... You'll never fit 325's on it without some sort of lift and it would be unsafe to put that wide of a tire on a factory rim. It's calling for 9-11.5" wide rim. Besides, guys who put wide ass tires on narrow rims,... it just looks stupid in my opinion. Stock tire size is 31.9" and the 325's are 32.8" so its not shorter either.

its just you, the square wheel wells of the gmt-900 are smaller than the previous years, you need more lift to clear the same size tires as previous years..

And as said the 325 width tire is too wide for the OEM width wheel. I would go with a wider wheel like atleast 9" wheel. The best tire size to run with these trucks is a 305/50/20 and a leveling kit. ANy bigger it will rub, no leveling kit, it will rub..
