I ordered a Debo step from this place 4 weeks ago. on the 12th of March.

when I didnt have so much as a confirmation email by 4/1/2011 I emailed and attempted calling them. No response.

on 4/5/2011 I get an automated email that there computer system and online ordering system suffered some sort of major outage on 3/24/2011 and orders in the past 24 hours were not processed, and that I will receive tracking confirmation shortly.

Unsure how this affected me seeing as my order was 2 weeks before, I replied to the email, on 4/6/2011 I got another automated email indicating that the Debo Step was back ordered and it would be 4 - 6 weeks before it would ship.

of course with all these issues they were still able to charge my credit card the full $150 for the product without issue..

I again replied to the email and finally on 4/11/2011 I got a "live" response telling me that they are checking with Debo Daily and as soon as they could they would give me an ETA on shipping.

my reply was none so nice, as I had contacted Debo on the 6th and found out that there was no back order of the Debo Step for the Avalanche, and they showed 4,000 units available across the country and various distributors.

on the 12th I got another automated email from mechanics-warehouse stating that all orders ship within 3 days of order placement, but Debo was holding up the works, and if I wanted a refund of my money all I had to do was not rely to the email and a refund would be processed.

I replied to the email and told them I did not want a refund I wanted my product, and gave them the information I had received from Debo...

Today they processed my refund MINUS a 20% RESTOCKING FEE, for an item they never shipped and I never received.

their phone immediately goes to voice mail, so I can't speak to a live person and the idiot I had 2 emails back and forth with hasn't answered me since the 11th..

I ordered directly from Debo this morning, cost me $15 more than mechanics-warehouse was charging, but I got a UPS tracking number within 1 hour of the order.. Now I have to contact my credit card company to square up this 20% restocking fee crap..

Buyers Beware..

thats why I like buying my parts from stores, that way I have a place to take my anger out if need be.

Hopefully you get all your money back.

Aren't you in the same boat as me? If you want just about anything for a decent price you have to buy from the US. And that means online. I would guess that I have ordered online from the states at least twice a month for the last probably 20 years, if you include ebay. I can count the failures on one hand. And I do not recall ever coming out as the loser.

That being said, my most recent purchase may be an issue. Been close to two weeks now since I got the email saying USPS has been notified that a package will be shipped, but USPS still has not received the package from the shipper. That package is the group buy of the PCV catch can.

you can't get certain things in a brick and mortar store, I have no issue buying online; chances are if this is the behavior online it is also the behavior in-store.

the problem to me is the charging of my credit card without a product to ship.. then charging me to cancel the order.

the whole point is going to be moot.. I complained to Debo directly about the issue (as it is their authorized distributor) and they offered to send me the part free of charge.. I talked to Debos owner and told him I wasn't trying to get a free part, just what I paid for, so I am paying for the part minus the 20% his distributor kept, and he will take up the issue with his distributor..

I was rather surprised to get the response I did, but it reaffirms my belief that there are still some decent people/companies around.

I'd be filling up their inbox, their voicemail, and reporting them to the BBB. Plus, I'd be doing what you're doing...Posting their shenanigans all over the internet.

And Debo sounds like a great company...That got kicked in the jimmy by a crappy distributor.

Well I received the DEBO Step yesterday direct from the Manufacturer at no charge as promised, I called this morning and paid for it, as I said I wasn't out for a freebie.

I installed it last night and the install was quick about 20 min (lets hear it for air tools), works as advertised, makes getting into the bed a lot easier for me and for my dog (15 year old Lab/Shepard mix who had a stroke in Feb).

I'm not thrilled by how low it is, but I guess it will be a good excuse to get a lift.. "see honey the step drags on 30 degree inclines" lol..

I would not be worrying about the catch can quite yet... I placed my order that same day, they charged my credit card, but back ordered the can. It came to them as expected, they shipped it out UPS to me. Since you mention USPS, I am thinking you are in Canada maybe, otherwise it would have gone UPS.

My experience with USPS is you get a notice that it is being shipped and the next thing to happen is you get it. The USPS never updates the status. If you are in Canada, perhaps it takes a few extra days to get through customs?

I am waiting for some nice weather to put mine on, rain and snow and wind just take the joy out of working outside.
