2008 Silverado Steering Wheel Radion Control

I looked through the threads and couldn't figure out if I would be able to add the radio controls onto my steering wheel... My truck has the cruise control on the left part of the wheel, but not the radio controls. Is this something I could install relatively inexpensively? Is there a harness already in the steering column for the controls? I'd like to add them, but if it's gonna be over like 70 bucks, can just use the buttons on the radio....

I have a "2008" Silverado ext cab 4x4 LT.

You don't have the necessary plug for the redundant radio control switch already in your steering wheel, and the correct harness is unavailable from GM. Your best bet would be to check with Schram Auto Parts (a forum sponsor) and see if they have gotten any more on hand. They'll give you a good deal on what you need.

If it's something I'd have to rip the dash apart or fish a harness all through the dash, It's not really that important to me. I used to work for Ford about 8 years ago and have the experience, but it's not something I really want to do. I didn't know if I the harness was already in the steering column. Thanks for your reply.

Here's a picture. Maybe you can tell there's no plug on the right side. I got a wheel from Schram and it was plug-and-play; just a simple swap for less than $70.

Here's what Schram said today, so if anyone is interested, give him a call:

"I've got a few stragglers that I never bothered to put into the store because I only have 1 or 2. If you know someone that wants them, have them email [email protected] or call 1-800-292-1032 EXT 2167 and ask for Blake.

Thanks for the referals."

These are very scarce, and Schram will treat forum members "right".
