Well yesterday I had a little free time so I decided to go the whole 9 yards and clay bar the hood, front fenders, and bed sides. After that I applied poorboys pro polish 2 (remove swirls not many on the paint), poorboys white diamond, DP poly-coat, and finished it off today with some poorboys natty (blue) liquid wax. The finish is better than when it was brand new. Next when I have some time (hopefully next Sun/Mon) I will be doing the door and tailgate.

I would love to but both of my vehicles need baths. Mine has been through a few rain storms and it is going to rain all week. Looks like Friday evening I will get some time to wash it again :dunno:

+1 on all the rain. We have had 4 inches in a day and half in Jasper. Your truck is looking good. Got me goin, Ive been meaning to wax mine. Gonna wash it in the breaks between the rain today and try to wax it tomorrow.

I have the maguires clay bar kit, have you ever used this brand. It was on sale at auto geek so I thought I'd give it a try followed up by there NXT wax. Does this sound like it'd be a good system?

Never personally used the meguires kit but have heard good things. I used poorboys most recently. I have since bought some DP brand and going to try that out next. Prior to these I used the mothers kit on my old truck. All seem to work well.

Hey Ryan, thanks for all the recomendations. I finally detailed my truck yesterday with my new Porter Cable. I used Meguires 105 followed by 205 and then Collinite 845 wax. It is as smooth as glass now and no more water spots or hazing.

 

Congrates on your truck it looks great.

How was the 105 to work with on the machine? I have only used it by hand so far.

I only clayed the hood because I'm too lazy to do the rest of the truck.

 

The 105 was not too hard to use with a DA. It was quit dusty, dried really fast and sometimes didn't want to wipe off easily when the pad got dirty. I was only able to do like 3 passes with it but that's all it took. Since I've never buffed before it probably made it easier to use the 105 since you barely work it on the paint. The 105 has got to be a time saver with only 3 passes. I like it but I want to try another compound to see if its easier, but I feel nothing will cut as good. I'm extremely satisfied with all 3 products.

M105 is a really heavy cutting compound. The major limiting factor is the lack of correction available with the PC. You just can't get the heat and pressure with the PC to do correction quickly. It'll happen and you can get excellent results, but it takes time.

Looks very nice. Really shines in the photo.

 

I should be out washing and claying the rest of my truck today but it feels like raining Sat-Thurs this week :troll:

Cleaned again.

 

Got the fender wells real good. Used some degreaser than poorboys trim restorer on the fender wells and mud flaps

 

Even had a helper tonight

since all of my trucks now have over 90,000 miles, its next to impossible to get my fender wells to look that good. its annoying.

 

even though my truck is 10 years old and has its share of scratches, i still very much enjoy fully detailing it at least once a week.

I have not cleaned the fender wells except for at the auto car wash using the high pressure soap in winter since I bought it. They were pretty dirty. It took some time and it wont last long but man it looks nice.
