Finally Got My All-terrain Cupholders

do these all terrain holders with the door covers come in any other color finish?? i have the SLT GFX package and comes with carbon fiber finish on dash panels i think black would look best rather than the silver.

 

I have a GFX truck too, mine is all terrain so it had this stock, the interior parts we have with the carbon look are actually the brushed aluminum parts that GFX has had hydrocoated, if you pull off any part of your dash trim you will see a brushed part number. You should try emailing GFX and say you had a all terrain and the cup holders got all markets up and see if they will sell you one.

It looks like the GMC Denali truck has the cupholder unit with the wood.

Yes they do make a set that will match your wood. The one that you want will be out of a Tahoe or Suburban.

 

The wood color that is in the Denali is a lot darker and would not match the wood that you have now.

Anyone that has taken the standard cupholder out want to sell theres? I have the all terrain but would like to have the other when I load up to go racing. Makes it a litle easier to put your wallet in reach.

Actually, there were several firms that sell the plastic burl wood cupholders on E-Bay.

 

I looked at each and every one of the advertisements and I picked this company because they actually said that the unit would fit the Silverado. Also, they were really nice about returns and gave a one-year guarantee. Anyway, these folks weren't the cheapest, but I got good vibes from their listing.

No they are not heated and cooled.

 

I would looooove to have tem be that way, but the only GM vehicle with them is the Escalade Platinum. The problem is that the part is not even similar and would require the cup holder to be hacked up and frankensteined together.

Cool mod and it's a real shame I don't have the right dash for this to work. My only option is buying the stupid CD and coin holder that clips into the other slots. I've yet to see pictures of anyone with it either so I'm hesitant to buy it.

Just FYI,

I ordered the brushed aluminum version from gmpartsdirect.com using the part# 20811674. There must be a new number for this one; at check out it was changed to #20951471 but with the same description. $135 shipped to WI and it's a special order item, non-returnable so I hope it's the right one...

They did indeed change the part number on these in 2009 or 2010. either number will get you the same part.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.

      To me it honestly makes zero difference what filter you run. It's not a race engine, just a truck engine that's mostly bumming highways and it just needs a filter that filters oil.   The filter used to be a 7060 and the long version was a 7045. Now it's the newer updated filter that the K2XX trucks and newer run, the 100255 I believe if we are using napa numbers. Any of those filters is going to do the job.   I wouldn't overthink it, to me it makes no difference because those first filter numbers worked for 18+ years before the spec suddenly changed.
