2007 Z71 Using Oil With 46000?

I have a 2007 Z71 with 46000 miles that uses abt 2-3qt of oil between oil changes. So I called over to my rude dealer service center and they acted like that was the norm and they are gonna do some kind of oil check on it and have me bring it in every 500 miles.

 

The truck is still under warranty

 

Does this sound normal???? Any help would be appreciated

this is one problem with the new synthetics. the carbon chains are much smaller then the non-synthetic oils. this allows them to squeeze pat the rings and burn up. depending on how much you drive and how hard you are on the truck it will burn more or less.

Its an issue that many people, including myself, have seen through the life of these trucks. GM will tell you that 2 quarts per 3000 miles is normal and they won't do anything about it. But if it goes over 2 quarts then they will try to fix it. Notice I said try, because as most have found out, GM hasn't been able to fully cure the issue.

 

I believe my truck started using oil around 50k miles as well but its not been as bad as what you have stated here so GM wouldn't do anything about it.

Ive heard of replacing the rockers with a D.O.D kit?? will this help?
