Hey guys,

I'm new at this so if this topic is already done sorry about that. I just purchased a 3" front level kit with a 2" rear lift block kit. I am interested in getting 20" xd spy wheels with Nitto Trail Grappler 305/55/20 tires. Do you think that i will be able to clear those tires without any major modifications. I dont mind cutting the plastic wheel wells.

I guess the wheels would have to be the 20" x 8.5" which gives me a +18 off set.

I currently have a 24" rim with 305/35/24 with my truck stock and have no current rub problems. they have a +20 offset.

Are you talking about the 3" Rough Country lift? Because many people have had trouble with that lift.

Those tires will rub on stock wheels with a 2" leveling kit. They will rub bad on +18 offset. There is one guy running 3" RC with 305/55 and -12 offset XD's. He's the only one I know of.

Thanks for the info. Im just kinda stuck now. Not sure what i should do. Its not the 3" rc lift that he has. I havnt received it yet to install it but it is just a level kit that says it raises the front up 3".

I def. wanted to go with the 12" wide tire since im running it now and have no problems stock. I thought i would be able to clear it because the current tire i have is 32.4 and the nitto's are 33.2. I figured since i was raising the front up it would work.

not sure if it makes a differance but my truck has the max trailering package with the 6.2. I dont know if that changes the stock hight or not. like i said, im new at this.

What is everyone running with a 20" wheel and a level kit?

any suggestions? personally i would like to get a wheel with either a 0 offset or a -12. If im going to do this i want to do it right and I like the look of the bigger lip. I know i have to go up to do that but i dont really have the funds to do so. The 3" level kit was cheap and not installed yet so i can always sell it.

What do you suggest for 20"s with a 33" wheel on my truck?

I suggest either 275/60r20 or 305/50r20 on +18 offset with a 2.5" leveling kit max. 3" is to much and you will have horrible angles on ball joints, cv shafts and tie rods.

Or do a 2.5" leveling kit and a 3" body with 305/55r20.

Or a 5" Rough Country lift for $1000

    • Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.
    • That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.
    • I wonder kind of nuts and bolts they will come up with next? Jim
    • “It should be recognized, however, that there becomes a point where fuel economy oils do not make much economic sense for the end consumer—we talk about a fuel saving of ~€100 compared to a risk of €1000 Euros if the oil is too thin and causes increased engine wear rates. However, the benefit of these oils accrues to the car manufacturers. If their vehicles can save 1–2% fuel by using a special fuel economy lubricant, then that OEM can drastically reduce the amount of fines they need to pay.”   I liked this and the following paragraph as well but it’s really only touching the beginning of the benefits OEMs see from spec’ing these oils. After you factor in “out of warranty” service work and new car sales when these engines fail before their time, it’s a good racket for them. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!
