Coolant Level

I have a 02 2500HD with the 8.1L. My coolant level low light keep coming on. I believe it is a sealed system and the overflow tank has the mark for "full when cold". I have not had to fill the tank at all and the temp is reading perfect. Would the sensor be going bad or could it be something else?

Yup, probably a bad sensor. Have you changed the coolant or had it tested as routine maintenance? Even though the owners manual says it's 100K, that's a big no no when it comes to Dex Cool (and all other high millage coolants) Having the PH/acidity levels checked on that coolant once a year is a very safe and wise thing to do.

I have not had it check for some time. Even if the sensor was the cause of the problem I was planning on changing the coolant. Trying to find a replacment now.

Good deal! Make sure you get the system flushed as well. Not wise to just drain and re-fill on these types of motors from what I am told.
