New (to Me) 2007 Gmc

I just traded my 95 GMC for a 2007 and had some questions. First, it is under warranty for powertrain for one more year. The dealership is offering a 4 yr extended warranty. Are these pretty reliable and or easy to fix yourself or would it be wise to get the warranty? The truck has 69K miles.

Second, it didn't come with an owners manual and I can't figure out how to turn on the fog lights.

It came with 18 x 9 ultra motosports wheels and Big O AT tires. I'll probably use this for winter. I am running my 20 x 8.5 centerlines right now as they are noticeably lighter and ride a little better.

Glad to be a part of the NNBS club and am sure I will have some more questions.

Big congrats on the new truck. The fog lights turn on by a split button thats at the btm of the dome light button. Yes, the trucks are pretty reliable but they did have an issue early on with the rear main seal. I'd bet yours has already been fixed. Worth looking into if you can. It's quite a labor intensive cost for such a small part if it does go out and start leaking. Otherwise, pretty solid.

Post up a few photos when you get a chance :dunno:

Gm has an owners site on yahoo

www.gmownercenter.yahoo.com

You can get an adobe version of your manual there.

Unless your warranty can be used at other dealers, it won't do you any good if you break down out of town.

a 2007 model truck will have the POWERTRAIN covered for 5yr/ 100,000 mile warranty, not the entire truck - big difference.

Good point. I forgot that :dunno:

oh, and let me add to that:

the 5 years starts from when the original owner drove it off of the lot, you need to get this information so you will know when the warranty has eneded (since it seems like you will hit the age first)

According to the dealership the car was born on 5-17-11, the day I got it. That is the date they were using for the 5 yrs so I have one year on powertrain.

I'll check on the extended warranty and see if it covers repairs not at the dealership--thanks for the tip.

Were fog lights factory on all models or an option. I ask as I think a previous owner did some customizing. It has a non stock grille and it looks like the bumper might have been replaced. The bumper is out of alignment but according to carfax, no accidents.

The hole in my theory is that the fog lights have factory harnesses to them.

As much as I liked my 95, these are nice trucks. I just got it back from the muffler shop and am super pleased. The truck came with a super short flow master and no tailpipe. It was obnoxious but is now great.

I got to get it set up for my contracting work, but then will make it mine. I am seriously looking at a leveling kit as the first fun mod.
