Synthetic Fluid Switch

After seeing a video from Summit Racing, I changed the front and rear diffs over to Redline 75W-90 and the Transfer case to D4 ATF on my 1500. I immediately noticed a .5-.7 MPG increase on the DIC. I also noticed that the front diff lube was a foamy grey and the rear diff lube was pitch black, with only 11,000 miles on my truck!

Now my dad wants to switch over his '07 2500 Silverado NBS (not the "Classic"). Does anyone know what the capacities are for the front and rear differentials and the transfer case? He said he could not find it in his owner's manual. Thanks in advance!

I like Synthetic, you might want to post this in the light duty section since this the the heavy duty area. Plus I think this subject has a lot of good posts and info all over the forum.

Did you do any DATA based research on whether Redline was suitable for long term use in a daily driver?

A video on Summit is about as "informational" as a magazine ad or TV commercial.

The truck also came with synthetics because of the long maintenance intervals.

I posted here because I am trying fnd the capacities for my father's 2500HD truck.

I have used Redline for over ten years in every other vehicle (truck, car, or drag racer) and never had issues. They meet all the specs for every day use. I didn't think there would be much difference because GM uses synthetics from factory, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Have you checked with RedLine for that info?

color dosen't mean the fluid is doing a bad job or expired...i think i read on here that they put dye in the front diff at the factory or somethen? anyway it isen't a bad idea to swap fluids on a new truck right away as it will remove the shavings floating around in there...

While Redline might be more known for racing lubricants, they have many products that are fine for regular use. I use D4 atf in the 6spd manual of my 01 Vette. And their P/S fluid in my truck.
