Do You Have The Sliding Rear Window Or Defroster?

Recommended Posts

I have a Tahoe now and use the defroster constantly in the winter time. I always thought I'd get a sliding rear window when I got a Silverado, but I'm now wondering if I'd miss the defroster. With the rear window being completely vertical (as opposed to on a slant like a Tahoe), I wonder if I would need it as much. Any thoughts on the subject?

I have the power rear slider without the defrost and it's not been an issue for me

My old truck had the plain rear window w/ no rear defrost. Never needed it

My new truck has the rear slider and again I have never needed a rea defrost (I do live in a cold climate also)

We also have a Tahoe with the rear defrost and I have never used it. Dont know if my wife has.

power slider here, never needed defrost, plus when im doing gutters or have a long board i can open the slider and run the gutter through the window so i can transport it without a trailer

Power slider here - and I'm in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot. Never had any fogging. I like being able to open up the "sideways sunroof" to air the cabin out faster on a hot day, and to communicate verbal signals directly to somebody (i.e. wife) when she's backing up to attach her horse trailer. You know... STOP!!!

I have the defroster. Only got it because the truck was on the lot with everything I wanted. I have used it a couple times but I defenitely wouldn't miss it if it was gone. I personally avoid truck with the sliding window just becasue I do tend to keep my vehicles for awhile and after afew years they become more of a pita then a convenience.

never had one, and never needed one. dry climate where i live, but i'm getting ready to move to the muggy city of Houston where every car outdoors has morning dew or foggy windows in the mornings!

I get more snow on the side windows then the back window, but I do use the defroster twice a year. I would prolly only use a sliding rear window 100 times a year.

I had the choice when I ordered mine and chose the defroster. Other vehicles that I had that had the sliding glass window I never seemed to use it and when I did it seemed like it sucked a lot of dust in. Although, if they made one that was both I probably would have gotten that.

I got the solid rear window and it has the defrost. I haven't had to use the defrost yet (I've had the truck less than a year). I wanted the solid rear window just becuase I prefer the look. I like the smooth look of the one piece window with tint and wasn't necessarily looking of the defrost feature. I don't use it on the tahoe or yukon denali so it'll probably never be used on the sierra either. My last pickup had the rear slider and I never used that either.

I ordered mine and went with the defrost. I got a sunroof so I didn't see the need.

Same here. I ordered my 08 All Terrain and just preferred the look of the smooth, tinted rear window.

I have the defrost and wanted it that way. It is handy because I get ice/frost on the back windows of everything I've owned. I have no use for a slider- I hate wind noise so I'd never open it while in motion.

I used the defroster in the winter for morning dew. It's also nice to have it come on automatically with the remote start feature.
