Well, Monday i get to cash in my b-day present from the wife and drive a Sprint Cup Car at Hickory Motor Speedway.. 30 hot laps by myself... hope i don't put it in the wall.. or mess my pants! LOL...

It's a competition for a contract next year in one of the lower levels of NASCAR.. they pick people who do well and give them direction.. the winner gets a one year contract.. i will just be happy for the day, but i'll take a contract too..

Well, i didn't spin out or blow it up,so i guess it was a sucess! We got there to the track at 11:00 am yesterday, checked in and went through drivers course. There were about 30 people there to drive. We got 5 laps as a passenger with an instructor.. it's a small track, 1/3 mile.. my instructor is a 4th generation racer, young guy mid 20's probably.. wow, he was flying! It wasn't scary at all, just a blast! We came in and parked. They had three cars on the track at one time, but one kept overheating.. Dodge, no less...lol..after everyone rode along to get an idea of the lines, we took turns back driving, with the instructor as a passenger. We did 15 laps, and came in to cool the car (and us) down and he went over some pointers. I have never driven a race car before, so it was pretty itimitading..My wife was quick to point, hey hunny, you were going kinda slow.. everything ok? Um, yeah, great, thanks..lol... my instructor gave me some pointers, and we went back out. I felt like i was definitly pushing harder... my biggest problem was not knowing how hard to puch the car without it sliding out and hitting the wall. But, i got 15 more laps, going much faster and got a few thumbs up from the instructor on a few laps..overall, i had the second best day of my life (first one being my wedding, we don't have kids yet).. it was just so much fun... hot as blue blazes..my driver melted the soles of his shoes in the first 15 laps, had to change his shoes.. it was over 130 degrees in the car, with the firesuit on.. just a blast though!
